How did you guys get the torsos to stay still while moving the arms around so much?

Do you not know about free look?

Default button is left control. Hold it while moving the mouse.

Its a very important part of playing some mechs, since it lets you take advantage of your faster arms (since torso twist speeds are slower than arm movement speeds).
