This would be like asking if there were a perfect fighter jet in the 21st centrury. Sure the F22, Eurofighter and Rafale-C are all nice sexy aircraft, but where one is assendant it has to offset this with a difficiency. The F22 can shoot anything out of the air, but for its cost you could buy 2-3 of something else. The same applies to mechs, some have great speed, good armor, good weapons ect, and a Timber Wolf can be called the F22 of its day, but again, rare, expensive to maintain and complicated omni tech. The key is to look at your mech's capabilities and fight within its abilities and yours.

Besides, the Inner Sphere perfected the Battlemech with the Clanbuster Black Knight!! ;)

To me, the best mech would probably be a light but, strong with heavy guns that can move fast and dodge easily. Missions would be a breeze.

Perfect 'Mech?
No such thing.
Although this is probably the 'Mech that comes closest:

4 Clan ERPPCs and enough heat sinks to keep it heat neutral.
Fortunately, we won't be facing one until 3079+.
Did I mention that it has the speed of a 3025 heavy? (4/6/0)

At launch it seems we won't have anything close to a perfect mech. (most omni mechs come close) But a Centurion would be a good start to a perfect mech with some good mech lab time and some C-bills

Silly thing is, that 95 tons of sexy is clan invasion era tech. And they say nothing good comes from the Jihad. ;)

There is no perfect mech, only the mech and pilot perfect for that fight. Put anyone's perfect mech in a bad scenario and it dies like the rest of them.

No there is no perfect mech. No mech can handle anything thrown at it. There is just to many factors that take away from another. Good armor, weapons, slow speed or high heat. Jumble that up enough something is gonna suck while the others are good.

I'll take a stab at answering that. That "thing" is called a Hellstar. It is a standard (not an omni-mech) co-devolped by Clan Wolf-In-Exile and Clan Hells Horses during the Word of Blake Jihad Era. It was built exsclusively for long running engangements away from supply lines and all three versions of it mount energy weapons exsclusively.

The Hellstar has 4 clan ER PPCs and 30 double heat sinks, allowing it to sink all of the heat generated by all of the ER PPCs. "If you AREN'T alpha striking in a Hellstar you are doing it wrong!"

The Hellstar 2 removes 5 of the double heatsinks in order to fit a targeting computer in to make the PPC shots more accurate. The down side to this version is you have to volley fire or you will overheat and quick.

The Hellstar 3 retains the targeting computer but rips out all four PPCs and two more double heat sinks to mount 4 Clan ER Large Lasers, 2 Clan Medium Pulse Lasers, an active probe and an ECM Suite.

All three variants are pretty fast for a 95 ton 'mech too.

There is no perfect mech and that's what I love about this game.

In most other games there is a best weapon/armor/spell/strategy/class and almost everyone is a clone of one another. Once a person obtains the best thing then they have little reason to continue playing in till another patch/expansion is released.
MechWarrior has always been different in this regard. In MW4 I always saw a wide variety of mechs and configs.

Personally the perfect mech for me is a fast medium (5/8 or better) with jump jets, a fair amount of energy weapons, heat neutral or close to it, with anti-infantry options and ECM.

That's my perfect. I hate running out of ammo on the battle field. Hate it with the heat of a thousand sons.

As just about everyone has said, it depends on the Warrior. There is no singularly perfect design. Personally, even though I despise the Clans (In general), the Shadowcat Prime is everything I want in a 'Mech. Fast, jump capable, decent armor for it's size, and can still hit like a hammer.

The Cronus CNS-3M version looks like it was in production in 3031. I believe stealth and detection systems will be handled by modules rather than equipment. So at 55 tons, 10.5 tons of armor 86kph with 150m jump. 1x Lg Laser, 3x Md Laser, 1x SRM/4, this looks like a winner (if it is included in the game). Other mechs I looked at tend to forgo jump jets in favor of armor or vice versa.
