Morashtak, I highly recommend you use a Catapult. Paul loves them and he talks to himself all the time :)

Maybe a Grinder mode? Kinda like CoD zombies or something?

I agree with what you are saying though PP.

We used to call these "Swarm Matches" way back in the GEnie days. a dozen Locust vs. an Atlas.

Sure I like where MW:O heading, more of simulator approach is just what I want.

Funny thing is that historical event WWII tank game go more with arcade style and fictional Sci-Fi Mechwarrior is heading for more of simulator style gameplay.

I am impressed by the depth of BT lore being included in the game. Many of the sublties of the BT universe are finding their waay into this game from the hints and info from the devs. That to me speaks volumes about their understanding of the universe. There are things in the lore that I am seeing in the info provided by the devs that are not found in other incarnations of this world. I truly hope and expect that this is more than one big robot bashing another big robot for the greatest head count. Role warfare, teamwork, house warfare, electronics (a bit at first with more to come),story lines that spread across th IS! So much more than "Me see. Me shoot. You die"! And it seems we will be able to make a difference in this universe! What more could a thinking person ask for?

The one thing that really concerns me about this game is that without any kind of Single Player experience I think it may be difficult for players new to mech warrior to learn the game. I've never had much Mechwarrior expereince before and Im a little intimidated just jumping into a pvp match with virtually no experience.

I think the devs are too focused on all the people who have played mechwarrior before and not really considering opening the genre up to new players. I think its gonna be hard for a lot of people who have never played a mechwarrior game before.

You got a point there. I'm "old school" but, hell, I haven't touched a MechWarrior game since 1998! I'll admit I'm rusty, and it'll be quite intimidating to sit in the cockpit and be thrown into a PvP fray. For all intents and purposes, I might as well just consider myself a newbie.

I'm pretty sure there will be some tutorial session to help us, but it would be nice to know if the game devs are looking at possibilities to making the game appeal to both veterans and newcomers. I have a few friends who know NOTHING about MechWarrior or the BattleTech universe, and I'm a little hesitant to bring them along right now until I know the game has a way of easing them in. (And no, I can't just say it's like any FPS game... MechWarrior is more advanced than that.)

I disagree. I think this game is going to revitalize the franchise and brings tons of new players into the fold. We're all going to be noobs when this game hits, having to relearn control schemes, the 'feel' of the game, tempo, et cetera.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'd worry more about closed beta testers :)

For the old mechwarrior guys sure. You guys will relearn it and stick with it Im sure. The learning curve wont be nearly as bad for you guys either because as rusty as you are you still understand and know a lot of these concepts that will be totally alien to new players. Things like managing weapon groups and heat levels to you guys you get that new players wont at all. Its going to seem incredibly complicated to them. Then your going to drop someone in to a match who has no idea what happens when heat builds up, how to properly offset their weapons fire which weapons ot use at which engangement ranges, how many tons of armor to use on which frame how much backup ammo to brin. You take for granted how much knowledge you guys have that is ingrained in you from previous games. New players wont know any of that. They will jump in and say this game is way too complicated I dont get it.

I saw it with EVE. Sure a few of us will stick it out like i did with EVE years ago. Eve is a great example of this. When it launched it was incredibly complicated. With long skill chains. Lots of different weapons all with their niche role all these hulls with their niche role things to manage in aa fight like warp disruptors, range, transversal velocity signature radius, sensor strength. There was no Tutorial. Consequently EVE had maybe 20k subs for years and to this day even after the tutorial was added has one of the highest turnover rates on trial players for any mmo.

Yes,i like where MWO is going. When i first heard about it i thought, okay, now the MechWarrior franchise will get turned into generic first person shooter garbage but when i read more about it i was SO happy that they didn't went the "dumb everything down for 12 year old CoD ADS kids".

Thank you Piranha Games. :)

And i also really like that they went the F2P route because everyone can just try it out without having to be concerned that he dropped 60 bucks on a game he maybe don't likes at all. This will bring a lot more new players to MWO which is really good i think.

This is going to be my first Mechwarrior game, and even from the small snippets of gameplay I've seen I'm highly impressed.
It's going to be awesome.

I think they have the concept on lockdown, I just hope they do not sway from the direction that they are heading with this game. so far everything I have seen and read is jsut about where I think it should be, IMHO.

I'm very pleased so far. I think the biggest consideration is that since it's an MMO we need to be mindful that if things don't work 100% on day one, they can update it into the game we all want it to be.

The Bounty Hunter voted yes. He likes what I see sofar, but he really want to see how the larger game universe is going to work out: Faction fighting, planet invation and etc. He likes blowing stuff up as much as the next person, but he would like to see how it effects the larger universe. If he just wants to blow stuff up I can go MechTek or MMLL route.

Sadly I think the Bounty Hunter needs to go in for some evaluations before he can pilot a mech. I think he is having an identity crisis since he refers to himself in both the first and third persons.

Sadly, the Bounty Hunter had to stop seeing his physiotherapist. The Bounty Hunter's health plan no longer covers the deep intense psychotherapy needed to help straighten out his mental health situation. Private out-of-pocket treatment is too expensive in all the Innersphere, except for the Cappelan Confederation, but getting his treatment there would just make the Bounty Hunter more crazy. He will take his chances without the help.....
