Also, it's Hawken, and it actually comes out after MWO. Hawken is suppose to come out sometime this winter.

Hawken's official release is 12-12-2012. That may be the beta though. I am not sure 100 percent. And, in all fairness, the game does not really excite me that much. The look of the gameplay made me think of:

Call of Duty: Hawken edition

Exactly, but people are too blind to see it mostly. :(

Isn't Call of Duty: Hawken exactly what they've said they are aiming for? I'd swear I've seen them promote that as the design goal.

I had not heard that, but you probably follow it more. All I can say is, both MW:O and Reign of Thunder seem to have that "battlemech" feel to them. The mechs appear to have mass and are not just complex suits that let you hop around and shoot. The substantial feeling you get when you pilot a mech in a game like MW:O is of the utmost importance in really "putting me into the game".

Hawken seems to sorely lack that feeling of dangerous substance.

I cannot include Reign of Thunder in there... if Hawken looks like CoD: Mechs, Reign looks like "CounterStrike: Heavy Metal edition". Have you seen the video? It looks like a Unicorn puking rainbows of pogobots.

I have seen the videos and I am VERY excited! Unicorn puke is just my thing!

LOL, in the end, I will have to reserve ANY judgment for these games until the day comes where I can actually play them individually. That said, Reign of Thunder seems to come as close to MA :D as possible. And, unicorn vomit or not, that IS just my thing. I do, however, respect your opinion TV.

PS - You never know TV, a single horned Zebra that kacks up a bucket of skittles may be your thing too! :)

Since the World is ending around that date, we will not need to talk about it.

(Hawken just seems to be another version of Virtual-On to me)

I've seen the gameplay on youtube... and if it was renamed to call of duty: mech warfare, there won't be too much differences, except this time you're shooting with mech

Reminds me of good ol' Armored Core. Is it a mech game? Sure. Good sub? Doubtful. Looks decent enough if you're into that sort of game.

That's like saying MechAssault is just like MechWarrior 4 because they both have 3rd person perspectives. ;)

Please.

BlackLight Retribution gives you more than hawken. They have sci-fi infantry and a small armored mech that can be dropped down just like a hawken mech. The hawken mech is just a hard to kill infantry with a rocket pack to me.

It's precisely because of HAWKEN that I have higher expectations for MechWarrior Online. I'm sorry; people can say otherwise, but I would really want MechWarrior Online to go "above and beyond" than a simple deathmatch game (which is what HAWKEN is). I keep harping on character customization, and sure it's a trivial borderline superfluous idea, but it's just one extra thing that MechWarrior Online can boast about having that HAWKEN will not. And of course, a bunch of other ideas proposed by the gaming community (like third person POV).

Hawken will be a good game for those who want their 'mech games to play like shooters. It will, hopefully, also encourage the MWO devs to steer away from that play style.

to me Hawken always looked like Tribes:Mech Only Edition, and also really boring. Sure they can make cool looking levels and concept art; but this is not a comic or movie, its a game and what they've shown for game mechanics looks like a pure Tribes FPS with some fancy mech parts slapped onto it :|

Actually, it's more like a Steampunk FPS version of Exteel.
