venus is at 83 atmospheres of pressure. 467 degrees celcius, and has clouds of sulfuric acid... yeah... we are so totally going to stand a chance outside the bio dome there...

We could use the planet at the begining of 'The Price of Glory.' Very toxic, everything needs to be in a dome or we's a die.

I´m fine with toxic atmosphere like : No oxygen, extreme high nitrogen content. I thought of something like this :

Skyfall is the planet name, about the same size as Neptune with big rings of asteroids just like Saturn, only bigger.
The planet surface is ragged with deep gorges, brownish rock and red sand covering everything, as well as huge sandflats.
Temperatures can rise to +5° and fall to -60-70° Celsius ( If i hear someone use that stupid farenheit-scale, i will find him and i will kill him).
What makes the Planet so dangerous is his atmosphere. Complete absence of oxygen and high nitrogen levels as well as a high hydrogen content. The gas is emerging from the inside of the planet, forming huge crevasses and high towers of frozen rock and gas. This gas-"vulcanism" is ectremely dangerous as gasses _can_ sometimes burst through the surface or gas-caverns can colapse.
The only safe place is a small research-station ( i´ll do a map in paint ;) )

I guess that with the map has to wait
But yeah, i´ll put one up at least from the Station.

AYnd concerning characters, i´m fine with basically anything, no godmode or Mary Sue but i don´t care if you are half mad or like to wear huge cowboy hats, it should be reasonable, just to make rping easier but you´re basically free to design him/her like you want. Professionals are alowed too, clanners are fine to, just no Aliens ;)

How about a faction invading the clans? They still have HPG tech.
Which is one of the things I do not get about the Dark Age.
The whole point is no one has HPG tech.
The Clans have HPG tech.
Diamond Shark/Snow Raven would make a killing from selling it.
The others would make a killing invading.
I'm amazed no one invades them for it.
I also never figured out why the advanced tech stuff like mechs disappeared. So the HPG grid got zapped/blown up. Who cares? How does this mean we lose mech and other advanced technologies?

Author oversights galore, unless there's something I just don't know. I'll be honest though, I've never bothered to read up on DA. The only stuff that interests me no one wrote about (that I can find) and the rest of it is stupid ;)

It was always my understanding that the clans in the innersphere, were using the HPG grid already in place when they took those worlds. They've since lost the ablity to build new ones, due to the production facilities being in the home worlds where from which they are all exiled.

As for the mech thing after the ji-had Delvin Stone makes everyone scrap 95% of the military hardware and production facilites. So that war wouldn't ever be fought on such a grand scale again.

Devlin Stone is like the most stupid person ever ;)

Anyway, i am making progress with a (rough) map of the station, if that should be the setting, but i´m fine if you all would like something else.

Devlin Stone is a moron, aff.
But the clans on the Homeworld have the production facilities, and the ones in the Inner Sphere have the knowledge to build more.
So...

Note: i used Celsius because the MW universe uses the metric system, and Celsius is the unit of measurement there... though i do prefer Fahrenheit myself.

I think this would be fun. also, I wouldn't want to use a mech on a planet like that. If your armor gets penetrated, your mech dies. because a hydrogen atmosphere, plus the oxygen escaping from the mech's inside == BOOOM!

As for the HPGs, I think the issue is that everyone knows how to build HPGs. but if you run a factory line that produces a few spare parts here and there because HPGs rarely break, could you manage to pump out enough spare parts to replace nearly every single HPG in the Inner Sphere in a year or 2. it would take 5-10. It even says in Sword of sedition that they managed to bring a few back online since the black out. 5-6 out of 2000 or more HPGs.

How stupid is that : Hey, we have a GREAT Communication method. Now let´s destroy the factories which produced that method because we never going to need them again ! ;)

Stupidity is boundless.

We´re still open, yeah. We haven´t even really started

there was never a need to build new ones. Analogy time. Lets say that cars did not wear out and die after 5 years. and barring extreme accidents they were relatively maintenance free. Just the occasional part needed to be replaced now and again. In addition, there is rarely a need for a new person to buy a car, because our population stays at for all intents and purposes the same. would you have giant factory completely dedicated to building new cars? no, you would have a small line dedicated to turning out enough repair parts to keep the cars running. and if for some reason you needed to build a new car, you could scrape together enough spare parts to put one together.

see what I mean?

Well if you have the ability to build one HPG a year in general, and then suddenly there's a demand for 2k, yeah I can see you having a problem fulfilling demand - at first.
Expand production. Sell the rights to others. Buy from alternate sources.
Problem resolved inside of half a century.
Besides, if I was say, CJF, I'd invade the IS immediately and order the science cast to be building a minimum of ten HPGs, complete models, a year. My HPGs would be replaced in my territory inside of 2 years, and I'd have ripped through House Steiner and taken the Isle of Skye without difficulty. Plus, the clans have HPGs on their warships, with the effective ability to jump 60 LY in 30m. Leave one Warship/world (if it has no HPG). You can have over a full naval star show up anywhere on just a few minutes notice. That coupled with solid ground troops...

But I think we're agreed that Dark Age is stupid.

EDIT: @Dal if you're producing spare parts, you can produce a full model simply by stepping up production. And again, opening new lines is very easy. The Dark Age is fine - if Stoner boy hadn't broken everything and it only lasted about 10 years of pitch, and maybe another 20 of moderate darkness. Total of fifty years to replace everything.
