SMTK sent me a early Xmas present. . .

A MW4 Highlander made out of plastic / resin. He took the MW4 Highlander paper model plans, and crafted this exceptionally detailed MW4 Highlander.

Since my model painting skills are ZERO, I asked a friend of mine to paint the model for me. I let him painted it what ever way he wanted since I wanted him too feel more involved than just painting it for me.

Below are some pics I took. Man, I must say, SMTK's skills are off the hook. Fine craftsmanship.

I would encourage any one to purchase some of his works.

Thank you once again SMTK for my present.

Dude I'm so glad you got it all together and painted. you had me worried when the parcel took so long to clear customs!

I love to see models painted (not just the ones i made) there not finished till they're painted! Red too its one of my favorite colours for models really makes them pop.

http://reversedisabled.blogspot.co.uk/ if you want to keep up with my mech models and random mech modeling rambles

Yeah, I was worried too that the parcel may be lost. I think it was opened at customs since all the parts was unwrapped, and the wrapping was just in one corner. Some of the minor details did break, like one detail piece on the left arm. The guy who painted it for me improvised and made it look as though it took a shot. Other than that most of the parts was intact with some minor chips.

Strange thing is that the parcel took 3 weeks to be registered that it was received at our airport. From there it was sent to customs where it spent three days. Then from customs to me was 2 days. I am not sure why it took 2 weeks from your airport to our airport.

Anyway, just glad I finally got it :P

Oh yes. Now that it is painted, it has a rough feeling to it. If you pick it up one would think the model is made of metal or something. Heavy as sh%t lol.

As you previously said, now I know why you make these 1/60 and not 1/40.

Thank you once again. This is one of my prized models and I love it.

AWESOME CRAFTSMANSHIP.

That looks absolutely amazing!

Does he per chance take commissions and do custom work? I have REAMS of Battletech concept art, 2D (like some Re-Seens I am desperate to get CGL's and PGI's attention for), and have been considering getting into 3D rendering (alien world for me, I still *gasp* own pens and paper, lol) and eventually buy a 3D printer. But that is a LONG time to come to fruition, I fear. If the prices were reasonable, and they were designs he felt he could market some, (aka turn a profit for himself, I am in it for the exposure), I would LOVE to get in touch.

It looks like they are converting several of my designs to low poly renders over at MechCommander: Omnitech, which has me pretty geeked, but I really really want 3D versions of my Marauder and Warhammer and Rifleman.

Nice job on the Elf-Bait Highlander

Both he and Orko are turning out some serious models.

Congrats to the lucky owner of this one.

I do not know what the problem is with photo bucket. I copied the url they supplied. The larger views is not even working for me even though I am logged in.

Will try and fix it.

@ Almeras

e-mail incoming

Not sure how to fix the thumbnail -> bigger view problem, so here is the link to the album.

SMTK Highlander

@ agent

I am very happy and honored to have received this as a gift. I would never be able to afford one and SMTK was very generous to give me one for free.

As I said. One of my most prized possessions.

@ Bishop Steiner

Best I can do for you is convert your models to a paper model. If you want me to do that for you, drop me a PM

That was nice of him. I have gifted a few people with my kits over the years...I do what I can to show appreciation.

@BlaaR....Project Insidious started. :lol:

@Bishop...I don't know about SMTK, but Agent Cooper does some commissions as do I. Although, SMTK has his plastic laser cut and can get some really crisp detail doing that...but I think that can be expensive. I am still a ruler and x-acto knife kinda guy.

I still make highlanders for sale. I stopped for a bit while moving house.

The issues for me with scratch building it they take 20x longer to make than basing them off paper plans and getting the most out of my free time its a priority for me. I did some for the upcoming hunchback release to give a MWO conversion option and I've had toput it on the back burner as it was slowing down everything else.

For those that might of missed this was the Highlander i painted.

A single led powered by a watch battery should do it pretty easy.

I am interested in both the paper models and any potential commissions, am curious about what they would run.

As for the paper models, if you can send me the 3D model files and texture, I will gladly make some paper models for you free of charge :)
