Actually no you did not. You referenced the Wolves turning to the Crusader view but the Ghost Beas were Crusader from the start. Also the Crusader philosophy IS based on fact. I have made that point MANY times on this forum quoting from the source material. If you like, I can get the exact quotes & repost them here for you. The Warden philosophy is completely baseless.

I have Twilight of the Clans & I do not recall Lincoln having an epiphany of any sort before Victor cut his head off. I will re-read it tonight when I get home.

Actually I did address your point with my opinion. Seeming the Crusader mentality is based on belief and not fact, opinions count.

As for the Ilkhan's realisation? You have two options: You either read 'The Wars End' on this link here. Or you read Twilight of the Clans, if you haven't already. Basically the Inner Sphere beat the clans at their own game, managing to accomplish what had only happened once before in clan history - the utter annihilation of a clan. When the 10th Lyrian Guard crushed the last remaining Smoke Jaguar units in the Great Refusal, the Ilkhan was effectively a broken man. His clan had been wiped out by a people who lived in a way which was seen to be inferior to clan culture. In his last final moments before asking for (and receiving) an honourable death by the hands of Prince Victor Steiner-Davion he had an epiphany, realising that the Crusade to liberate the Inner Sphere had been utterly misguided and utterly wrong.

No, the Crusader mentality is based on Alecksander Kerensky's Hidden Hope Doctrine, which was an attempt at keeping the morals of the Exodus Fleet as it made it's way to what became the clan home worlds. It set out his ideas of what the goals of the fleet should be and laid part of the foundation of clan culture in discipline in the face of adversity. This makes the clan way of life based on the mixture of propaganda, political and military philosophy, and out right pragmatism when faced with limited resources.

Also I do believe Ghost Bears turned Warden after the Great Refusal, also voicing the folly of the Crusader philosophy, though there'd be signs of them sliding towards being Wardens before then.

Primarily. but not exclusively. The writings of Nicholas also play a heavy part in the philosophy.

Don't know if I stick to IS or will join the clans - but of those above - Nova Cat with Wolf coming close second.

Smoke Jaguar. The fact that we were chosen above all other clans to be annihilated is a testimony to our prowess in battle. Clan Wolf is my second choicesue to their cunning and lack of adherence to clan rules.

I do Like the option to pick a Historical Clan Unit, but there should be room to identify those Clan names that were created back in the beginning of MW2 who gathers pilots behind their banner like Clan Pendragon, or Merc Units like Lords of Destiny.

If I had to choose from the ones on the current list it would have to be Clan Wolf, for they protect the weak and the heritage and the memory of the Star League and General Aleksandr Kerensky. Their actions speak volumes of Honor.

Things that have made me laugh in this thread:
1. People saying they are Clansmen, but using contractions and Great House loyalty pics as avatars
2. People saying "Ghost Bears are Wardens" when they do not go over to the Warden camp untill well after the invasion
3. The fact that less than 50 people voted Stell Viper (poor vipers :) )
4. This ...

I would never join an invading clan, since invasion is a violent act based on misguided lust for the appearance of power. True power comes from furthering one's knowledge of oneself, and constantly challenging one's own perceptions on the Universe. All other power is transitory or problematic.

That is why I am a member of Clan Smoke Trees - the only Clan centered around progressive morals and ideals. The only things we will invade are your brains and the only weapons we will use are enlightenment and personal growth. And of course lasers to shoot off all your weapons and leg you. Maybe some PPCs.

err... what? This is a joke right? A pacifist Clan, that uses contractions, directly opposes Clan ideals and has not yet joined the Not-Named Clan in annihilation?

*blows water out of mouth as he begins to cough* What in the... WHO IN THE NAME OF KERENSKY SAID THAT?!?!?! *\IC*
Now, I would state that it is my intention to play under Clan Wolf's banner when the time comes, as I enjoy the challenge of being outnumbered, and underweight against a foe that is not only going to use tactics, but also some dirty ones at that. I look forward to being able to prove why, Clan Wolf was the chosen of Kerensky.

My bloodname is Icaza, from the founder Carl Icaza, from whom we gain our strength and stubbornness. Also was an elemental but since they aren't available... whatever.

In 3050 ~ 3052
Warden:
Clan Wolf (gets split into a Warden and Crusader half after the Refusal War)
Steel Viper

Crusader:
Jade Falcon
Ghost bear (Becomes Warden after the Great Refusal)
Smoke Jaguar
Nova Cat (Becomes Warden during the Smoke Jaguar annihilation)

Voted Wolf, because I prefer the warden tradition and Ulric's tactical prowess. Ghost Bear being close second, but since they're still crusaders until the Great Refusal it's a no no atm for the teddy bears. Snow Raven would've also be interesting, although they're only partially warden. Ironically the Warhawk was my preferred OmniMech ;).

But since no one but the devs knows if and when we'll be able to play as the clans, I'll stick with Archon Melissa Steiner-Davion! This way there's at least a better chance to give the Jade Turkey a beating :).
