Communism is an economic system.....
I think you mean socialism

Communism
http://dictionary.re...e/Communism?s=t

Socialism
http://dictionary.re...e/socialism?s=t
(I only bring these up because people Miss use the word Communism all the time)
or did you mean Meritocracy I'm confused :D

I thought Liao were Nationalists who believe in a Meritocracy system, even though it's run by Aristocrats.
and Steiner were just a bunch of Dictators and Aristocrats.

Liao and Steiner are so much opposites, as there would not be much more opposition - if you know what I mean!

Every house might have their crazy ruler at one or the other times, but House Liao is the King of all crazy rulers under one state. House Liao is sinister, they are wrong in every turn and devious (if that would be the correct word). Their military inetlligence is ruthless and I really have to say that their leaders are one bunch of crazyness, that is hard to find in the inner sphere.

Now dal10 is saying something, that only House Liao is best... blablabla and the Skye Rangers are dumb ... blablabla ... and by the way he was on both sides ...blablabla ...

You can choose later in the game. Go to Sarna and Battletech Wiki, if you were not there and see all houses and their history. If that is not enough, there are over 60 Classic BattleTech novels, that might help to choose your side.

I for myself could never join Liao, because there is nothing I stand for in life. Davion and Steiner are not that far apart (guys - in general!) and Kurita is basically a Japanese society which also might be interesting...

If you choose to be a Steiner, then I hope you will check out the Skye Rangers here.

I would take Mad Max over Katherine any day of the week... At least you know he was crazy to start with. Plus we don't have a state sponsored Terrorist units, we just fund ones that pop up in other great houses. We don't start them on our own. Or have you forgotten Loki, the only group that will actively destroy or at least heavily damage jumpships.

Well Mad Max and Katherine are really hard... for either side :-) And you are totally right - it was not clear that Katherine was crazy at the beginning... You actually thought, she would be nice and definately not that lunatic she really was.

Every house has its dark sides... And some are really dark!!
So - one must see, what fits him/her best... Or join one of the Mercenary Corps! They are basically independent of houses. Some of them at least.

Don't start with the Clans, though ;-)

P.S.: I like this thread - it is much more fun than it's twin on the House Steiner forum!!

Join House Liao, where it is a meritocracy. If you are good, you will do well. If you are excellent, you will be watched like a hawk, a tracking chip placed in you, and if you are really lucky, assassinated on the order of your Chancellor. :P

Please, sarcasm isn't your strength, my friend. Whatever you tried to provoke doesn't even worth for a chuckle.

As if House Liao does not and will never give freedom and reward to the finest warriors in the house by just basing on the paranoia of the current Chancellor as what you believed from the novels.

If you say so, why not join House Davion? There you'll become a sheep for the Order of Davion.

Says the guy who hated the House Steiner sub-forum threads.

LOL! Dictatorship =/= Communism

Do Capellans look like communists because of the 'unity' $h!ts?

PS: Also, there's no "Cold War" version of sentiment craps in BattleTech universe. There's no communism vs. capitalism in here. Tell me if you're here to screw around.

What are you talking about? Hated the House Steiner sub-forum threads? What?

I am sorry if you take offense to the truth, warrior of the CCAF, but I have had too many friends disappear or purged by the Maskirovka based on perceived slights. The warriors of the CCAF are excellent, and the people of your house are of the highest breed, but your leadership is a few mechs short of a lance.

Truth? Or a source of lies from a propaganda?

Even if you're talking about Maskirovka, they only execute anyone who are associated with Justin Allard, who was blamed for their losses in the Fourth Succession War.

PS: By the way, Chancellor Romano Liao is just doing whatever means to prevent the Confederation to die as it is suffering a constant oppression committing by House Davion, nothing more. House Liao is one of the greatest House in the IS, and she don't want to see it perish from the surface of the IS. You think she's doing exactly as what Stalin did in USSR, the Stalin's Purge bullsh!ts? Do you really think Chancellor Romano Liao willing to risk losing too many of the finest high-ranking warriors in such 'desperate' condition like that? Before you could further your gibbering, you should get your facts right first. What Romano Liao is doing is a lot different than what Stalin was doing in real life

Tell me if you're just saying, or you're just here with a sole purpose to express you 'hate' against House Liao through any forms of rhetoric or sarcasm.

PSS: Also, MWO is attempting to rewrite a bit of the history from the BT's TT lore. So please don't expect everything will be exactly the same as the original lore, nor the BT novels' lore.

Sorry, first post completely failed, and having an issue with the quote, maybe it's just my connection today.
The Maskirovka conducted multiple purges crossing Chancellors, not just one, and not just those people associated with Justin. You can say Romano is just doing what she needs to make the CC survive, and that is true in her mind, and may even be true as a whole, but according to the lore 'It was not unknown for her to implant tracking chips in the heads of palace staff, or even have them all killed and replaced during a bout of paranoia.' She also brought into the governmental fold, the assassins guild. So you've got a paranoid leader that has a secret police and an assassins guild at her fingertips. They are known take person property, remove citizenship, imprison and various other penalties for those who have 'incorrect views.' You say it wasn't like Stalin, you'd probably be right, it would more be like some of the other rulers that have dotted history where if they were given a decent reason to doubt you, you disappear, but not on the massive scale of Stalin.

Had to break it into two posts for some reason:

House Liao is great in RP if you want to add political intrigue and maneuvering to the game, I love the house for this. Each of the houses has a major issue differing from the others, which allowed you to place players in and to change how you wanted to RP as well as providing a ton of very different game scenarios. If you never touched on the political eggshells of House Liao, that is your loss in my opinion. The OP wanted RP reasons to choose or stay away from a house, if you don't include this, you are missing a great deal of RP material and no one had brought it up yet.

Now, if MWO has changed some of the history of the house to this point, I'm sorry I didn't know that, would you care to point me to a thread where I can read these changes?
