In the timeline it will be months until the invasion into the Inner sphere is fully underway.

As for being playable mechs, nobody knows when, or even if, the clans will be playable and what format that play will be.

Suffice to say, it will not be for a long time, so don't lose any sleep over it.

Long and short of it with out the legsass:PGI has MWO going in a 1:1 ratio of game time to real time, this translates to the clan invasion's first "wave" arriving in march 2013. However due to the rate at which the game is being developed its unlikely you will hear about them beyond "Innerspherenews resports" prior to fall 2013 or early 2014. This is just my estimation based on current pace of progress however, once the core system has been fully lane down and major bugs resolved the pace at which content can be added is purely limited to how fast the developers can crank them out.

(As it stands, every patch that comes out has to be repeatedly ironed out to resolve new issues, as development progresses this will become less common until only minor issues crop up with each addition resulting in quicker progress as a whole.)

Timberwolf? I would be not at all surprised if it is the first clan mech announced. That said though, the clans start invading next spring, but that doesn't tell us when you'll actually start being able to play as the clans.

Current plans state they have 2 major expansions planned after open beta. The first is community warfare. The second will be the clan invasion. So it is coming, but don't expect it any time sooner than next spring.

just to give an overview what has been said:

1.open beta will start "soon"
2. after OB starts, a large number of PGI guys will focus on the development and implementation of the community warfare/ planetary conquest
3. CW has an estimate of at least 3 month´s after OB start, maybe some parts will be added sooner, but that´s object to speculations so far
4. After CW is up and running, it will build the base for clan invasion and everything around it. (so maybe again, 3 month´s after CW is finished?)
5. the madcat will most likely be one of the clanmechs that we won´t see before full implementation of the clans...

other models and weapons/ modules MAY be introduced earlier (II C models maybe? ) if Wolfs Dragoons will be so kind to give us some...

like i said, many things are just speculation, but that things above is what we know is planned (5 is pure speculation based on some "maybes" from PGI and hidden hints)

i´d go that far to say, that Clan Invasion would be a major update like an addon or something...

that makes me guess next year fall/ winter
