Original: Flowering Night.

I suppose this would be an example of a remix that COMPLETELY departs from the roots of the original tune.

In this case, it went on to sound almost exactly like Toxic. Except better. Hmm.

Yes! A Touhou thread!

I don't keep up with Touhou anywhere near as well as I used to a couple years back. I actually really miss those days not gonna lie. I still remember exactly what room I was in, and what chair I was sitting in at my university campus when I beat Ran in PCB. Everyone in the room heard me.

I don't have much to contribute to the thread right now other than I really, really love the series. I've only 1CC a few of the games. I used to keep up with the comics and fanart daily. Favorite character is definitely Youmu, after that I have a bunch of tied for second place favorites.

Oh nice, this thread made me post my second post. Glad to see that even in beta, the Touhou is strong with this community.

I personally 1cc'd all games up to Subterranean Animism, which I stopped at. I'm reading more comics and print works now - only official stuff that ZUN endorses. Silent Sinner in Blue is my next destination.

Only two episodes have been released so far. It's weird how such a short running series has such a large fanbase.

Because... I can.
:(

But nah, I haven't played the fighting titles personally.

Meanwhile, another of my favorite songs;

I can't say I play PoFV hardly at all anymore, though I do occationally play SWR, and Soku.

Can't say i'm the best at the fighting games, though.

My links aren't working. But ah well.

No. Or at least, not yet anyway.
I'm still trying to beat Subterranean Animism (finally beat Orin) and Embodiment of Scarlet Devil (Still having trouble with Sakuya).

Just a little note on Sakuya, some people don't really think too much about it. A decent number of her cards are made significantly more possible by strafing slowly (Note what is and is not directed at your character) rather than quickly flying all around trying to dodge everything and squeeze in/out at random.

Used to play the fighting games a lot with my brother. My brother actually got pretty serious into it at one time. He was on the IRC channels and playing online against other people and all that. I was never that good though. I tended to stick with Youmu and Alice as my characters.

awesome touhou collection! I played all of them (sadly on normal, i am not a japanese guy..sniff)
Still love Dodonpachi but it is more arcade shooter than actual severe bullethell like Touhou.

I did manage to find a weak ripoff of Touhou on Steam called the Gundemonium Recollection (consists of 2 touhou like games)

-> http://store.steampo....com/app/92200/

and eXceed - Gun Bullet Children

That's true for most characters.

Difficulty clear:

Easy - Doesn't matter what you do really. Just some above-average reflexes and you clear.
Normal - Ability to predict ahead required to avoid getting stuck in hopeless situations. Other than that, reflexes and quick movement are enough.
Hard - Learn when to move and what not to move, even if everything seems to be falling around your head.
Lunatic - Memorisation of patterns may be necessary.
