They did mention that new deals would come along eventually, but for now all you can do is purchase MC.

I was just invited to the Beta yesterday, clicked the Founder Package link, was directed to the forums and spent some time searching to find out I couldn't purchase it. Very frustrating.
Would have tried to get in the beta sooner if I knew it existed, and would have purchased the package then.

It's not really a pre-order, it was a Founder's Package, to raise money to help the game get made, I think.
It was actually supposed to end in August but it got extended, probably more than once, and just finally ended a couple days ago.

The founders packs was not a pre-order, its was more like a kickstarter investment.
These founders packs were only available for a limited time, and ended 14th October.
I dont understand these advertisements about the founders pack you talk about either, as I dont see them and have not seen them since the sale ended.
Are you saying that the advertisement are still showing up for some people?
There is no pre-order for this game, because you dont have to buy the game.
The game is free, you dont even have to buy the client and there are no subscription required, you can download and play the FULL GAME without ever paying anything.
As others have said, the game is still in Closed beta, though Open beta is apparently right around the corner.
It was initially set for 16th October, but because the community voiced some serious and very valid concerns about the state of the game, it was pushed back.
No date for Open Beta/Release have been announced as far as I know.
Hope this helps.

As soon as you login to the game, you're staring at a giant ad for the founders packs.

Still seeing the ads for the standard, elite and legendary when I start the launcher. I have to say that I am a bit sad over this since I'm totally freakin' loving this game, but the trial mechs are a bit crappy. I would have gone for the elite or actually even for the legendary, but... I can't. Which isn't nice.
Now starts the serious cry part of this message.
I'll grind for couple of days with the trial mechs, decide that they are no good and leave the game. Possibly even forget that this ever was there. I know... cry cry cry me a river. Anyways... you guys keep up the good work. The game looks nice. I'm loving it. Well.. I was loving it.

Devs have mentioned they plan on introducing new promotional deals but haven't given any hints as to what or when, but the founder's program is done.

The game was slated for Open Beta yesterday but community concern convinced them to push it back at least a week. You just happened to fall in that void between the Founders program and the open beta launch. You can't blame developers for listening to the community and for you being late to the party.

Yes it does. For me it gives three options to buy. Standard for 30 $, Elite for 60 $ and Legendary for 120 $. The links behind this just takes me to the MC shop so only credits are offered.
Makes a grown man sad to see that he can't spend money on a game he likes. =/

First off dude... it's still Closed Beta... the Open Beta was pushed back due to a minor bug they didn't want running amok when it came to Open Beta... You have only been a member of the MWO community for a day... if you followed this game like thousands of others, you'd know there are many social media outlets they use to advertise the Founder's Program, including Beta keys and much more offers.
Personally... being only a member here for a day, I think there's no point to complain about something you have little information about. Us in the MWO community like to help others, but it's hard when rants like that get tossed on here... makes me sad for the Devs to know there's players out there that act like this. As for the Devs not updating things as routinely as in the past... they are buried up to their necks in fixing things for Open Beta very very soon... so... have patience and cool your jets

Note: This game is @!#$ing awesome... you'd be wise to give it faith

it was a kickstarter funding program, kind of...with the exception you got something in return and not just a "thanks, maybe we will start developing something with your money"...
the founders program has been expanded for over a month, it should have ended in september already...
