This suggestion isn't really aimed towards gameplay, but rather, helping the beta resolve technical issues that are sure to come up. Long story short, please provide the community with a proper professional styled bug tracker and a bug writing outline - I realize many users won't adhere to it and duplicates are something that will run rampant, but ultimately, I think this is a far superior way to help both address issues and search to see if they've already been entered.
I've done quite a bit of testing in the past and whenever an open beta provides a proper setup like this, with forced DXDIAG submissions, screenshots, etc, it is drastically more useful than using the forum method, where many serious issues get totally run off the list and lost in the shuffle of minor complaints. It might also help to have a community moderator strictly moderate the board to enforce the protocol, as people who don't follow bug posting rules cause severe clutter.
I realize that the dev team might not have access to the normal sized testing group, so I think ultimately when this goes live it will be an important aspect to give those involved access to. If you provide us the tools to do so, players will test issues over simply playing the game and reporting things they see along the way. I'd love to be able to precisely report issues and am very prone to doing this kind of testing - and will quite a few other people I know.
Anyway, it's just a suggestion after seeing both methods used in open beta and hoping we can help contribute to fixes before the game goes from open beta to official status.

I'm sure for the closed beta they will, and perhaps for their core testers during open.
Mantis was the last one I used and it was ok. Not great but I didnt expect much.
Cheers.

Completely agree with the OP, easy to use bug reporting tool is a must-have thing.

Definitely...
Something I have always thought would be 'useful' would be the ability to report a bug 'in game' then tie that bug post to a forum post, so that other beta-testers can see it and tie their bugs to it as well.
Sometimes 'bugs' are more 'features' that derive from gameplay mechanics. In those cases, a discussion of your 'weirdness' can be really helpful, and it can be helpful for the admins to see the number of people who have issue with the bug.

I am for any system that does not see the bug reporting process devolve into something like:
"The Dire Wolf's Missile launcher should be 5 cm to the left at least"
"What are you smoking? The Dire Wolf's missile launcher is correct, just llok at these pictures."
"Those pictures are from a fan art section, look at the TRO. Moron!"
"Who are you calling moron, flame bait?"
It never ceases to amaze me the trivial details that people will fight over and how quickly the beta bug reports can devolve.

Absolutely.
Dota 2 has no bug report function, only a forum, and some issues get ran off the front page by either non-issues caused by misconceptions, or by minor complaints, or more pressing major complaints.
In addition, as Johannes mentioned, people sometimes fight about issues, with people claiming that they aren't issues at all! Well, let the developers determine that, as far as I'm concerned.
So, yes, a good bug reporter would help to alleviate those issues. Additionally, I would personally report more bugs because of it. I hate having to log in to a forum to report the bug when I should be able to do it as soon as I encounter the bug.
