While it's always best to be on steady comms with your lance-mates, sometimes that's simply not possible, or perhaps you just want to listen to something other that the hurrahs of victory and the cries of defeat. So I wonder, fellow 'mech jockeys:

What tunes do you listen to while you're thundering across the battlefield?

Some of my favorite fightin' tunes are:

Tyranny of Steel - Iron Savior (Hunchback)
Ghost Division - Sabaton (Catapult)
Vulgaris Magistrales - Heidevolk (Atlas)
Black Betty - Spiderbait (Jenner)

How about you folks?

I typically listen to the soundtrack to Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Its pretty nostalgic, as it brings me back to that game- the first mechwarrior game I ever played on PC, back in '95-'96... that, and its pretty damn high-energy and heavy. Great battle stuff for any mech class and occasion.

Usually don't have music when I play, mainly com chatter in my ears.

If I do drop lone wolf I usually have something like:

Kings Of The City - Make Me Worse (Muzzy Remix)
Persona 5 -Reincarnation- CONTROL FREAK 「 Yasutaka Mix 」
deadmau5 - Maths
Gigi D'Agostino - Another Way "angeli in festa"

With exclusivety, I listen to the manliest and most harcore stuff available in the form of music.

Indeed, the manliest of battle-song. And what else would we listen to? Because, after all...

I typically go with the hardest beats, and dirtiest rhymes I can find.

I am very particular with my Rap/Hip-Hop selection as a result, most of it is experimental or militaristic in cadence. Many people would find my tastes to be eclectic as a result, and might not find it particularly tasteful.

Eyedea
Death Grips
Prof
Die Antwoord
MAYDAY
Immortal Technique

That kind of stuff.

Anything that the random shuffler picks, but some that just sounded right when they came on...

Turisas - Battle Metal
Rhapsody - Knightrider of Doom / Dawn of Victory
Blind Guardian - Valhalla
Muse - Knights of Cydonia ("No-one's gonna take me alive" seemd very apt)
and, of course, Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction

Some tracks also ignite a subconscious compulsion to play the sub-game of synchronising weapons fire to the music. Muse's 'Uprising' seems to be particularly good for this :)

Of course, having said all that, if I were really in the position of riding 100 tons of steel into battle, raining death and destruction down all around, only one piece of music would do (regardless of how cliche'd and over-used it is)... Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyrie'

Occasionally, I feel the need for something in a more traditional/classical style. In that case:
March of Cambreadth - Heather Alexander
Dance of the Knights - Prokofiev
Mars, the Bringer of War - Gustav Holst
