I know this is still really early in production, and I will revisit it later - There have been suggestions about tonnage limit/team etc. Some of the most fun I've ever had playing MPBT Solaris was running what was called a "True" lance, meaning, each team had one 'Mech of each class. Was fun times, and in certain situations, I would love to see that rekindled when appropriate.

This is like what MW4 had. Each team had a drop limit, say 400 tons for 5-6 people, and then you can have some people take lights and others in mediums or assaults.

I remember reading the devs saying something like "a lance should have a light, med, heavy, and assault" so we might get true lances

True lances sounds interesting. I was more used to league drops with available tonnages. I guess I'd have to try it but who deterimines who gets what tonnage? The order you joined a match unless it was with 4 of your friends and you talked it over?

Sounds like an interesting idea, as long as there was a method to force those pilots with one class of choice off of their high-horse and give the other pilots a chance to switch up.

From the sound of it "The" Sniper, it sounds like people will take a mix of mechs on purpose. At least lights sound important for scouting purposes. I'm not sure if meds or heavies will also have some advantage as well, other than speed.

There is going to be a huge focus on what they are calling "Information Warfare."
This means that scout mechs and mechs with good radar (generally lighter classes) will be pretty much needed to detect enemies, and launch surprise or sneak assaults.
They haven't announced a team drop limit yet, but it has existed before. So with these two combined elements I would expect using a mix of weight classes to not only be beneficial, but pretty much needed.
