Using a joystick, throttle and rudder pedals may not be as responsive as mouse and keyboard but it feels more real.

- CH Fighterstick
- CH Pro Throttle
- CH Pro Pedals
- CH Multi Functional Panel
(plus a Saitek TPM and a Track IR).
At the moment nothing beats the accuracy of a good mouse but throttle and pedals are far superior than any keyboard (even if the turn-axis is not analog now).
I reccomend you the CH Products due to the awesome configuration software that allows you to write scripts, macro, create virtual devices, etc. and the quality of materials. Moreover, the CH is one of the few producers that sell a stand-alone throttle, instead of a complete HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick).

I think this statement is a little outdated, think about it if they were to design a mech pilot system based on tech we have today, and if in simulation style games like MW mouse and keyboard proved to be better this would prompt mech designers to use pilot systems that better related to how current tech is controlled.maybe not exactly and mouse and keyboard but the controller would feel much more natural than the joystick and pedals.Im no tank driver for that matter, nor do i understand how to drive a tank but im sure future tank designs will bring in software and new hardware that will make the pedal and "stick" redundant(assuming the closest thing we have to piloting a mech is a tank)
Just my thoughts on the matter of mech controls.

my plan was using the stick as my throttle/reverse/turnleft/turnright and my mouse for torso/aim. sadly the reverse is still impossible to map at the backward position of the stick and when the joystick is in idle position, the throttle is not set to zero, it is set at 30% throttle.
i hope the devs make this work because i think this is the best control setup for a mechwarrior game. it is pointless to use the stick for aiming/torso twisting, the mouse is far more superior for that. (if you have a throttlestick and pedals then that's cool also for forward/backward/turn left/turn right)

However I had good results starting out with a razer Naga and the throttle of the g 940.
Just prefer the joystick

I have to disagree. Take a look at one of my videos (low res, I know):
And it will be even better when the turn-axis will be made analog.

if you are a scout maybe, spotting targets at long distance at max speed and supporting the other mechs. but if your role is a brawler, you need pin point targeting on the individual hitboxes of the enemy mech, ex. head, torsos, legs. don't tell me the joystick is better at aiming in medium/close range @walking and running speeds than the mouse.
