The moment we get public stats is the moment this forum gets filled up with this phrase:
"says the guy with a 1/10 K/D ratio. LERN TU PLAY NUB!"
MWO is better than that. If your ***** is so small that you have to compensate with stats from a video game, MWO isn't for you. Piloting mechs is only for REAL men!
This. As soon as you share stats, you get crap like this.
Even if those stats where useful, it's meaningless: A newer player may have gotten good, but the vast majority of his stats are going to be from his learning days where he was roflstomped over and over learning.
Or, maybe he was a scout, TAGging targets for his teammates missile boats. Or, perhaps he's got great stats, but it's because he's a jackass: Deliberately moving into friendly mech's fields of fire to steal kills, or whatever else. Public stats encourage this asshattery, too.
But, these stats aren't useful to being with.

KDR is such a shallow stat for a game like this. Damage done, accuracy, uptime are just a few that I think paint a much better picture of a players skill.
I hate those games where the guy with 4 kills is bragging and at the end of the match he did 140 damage. Just last week I was the last alive in conquest in my Raven and this guy was like "I killed 4 myself why can't you noobs do anything." So I said kills don't = damage done, to which he said wait till end of match and proceeded to call me a lot of names.
Well my Raven did twice the damage he did and yet I had no kills (not that I cared) but it is a good example of people convinced last hitting something makes them good.
I told myself to just stop caring about it and play how I play.
Likewise - and understand I'm not saying this applies to your specific situation - one could have a lot of damage done and no kills because they just spray-and-pray, hitting all over the place and accomplishing little.
That's a result of things like LBX-AC's and missiles of course, and can often also be reflective of brawling with mechs and having a speedy little raven run by and finish things off. A great sniper could have lots of kills and little damage done because he's great at headshots, or perhaps he's changing targets once the current one is disabled but not killed (removing enemy firepower from the battle as quickly as possible).
The point, though, is that you can be a great asset to your team regardless of damage done or kills, and you can be a waste of space even with "good" battle stats.

I want more meaningful stats like Asists, Average Assists, Average Damage per macth.
Pug vs group stats. A break down per weight class, per mech, per chassis, per weapon.
Average heat level would be super useful!
That said I'm not wild about them being public.
I like this idea.
I'd love this. I'm a huge fan of stats - private stats - but the ones we have aren't useful. Kills to Deaths in particular is worthless, and there's no mention of assists whatsoever in the current stats.
Playing in a premade group exclusively vs. playing in pugs exclusively will have a HUGE impact on your stats, no matter how good you are.
MWO is a much more tactical game than current shooters are. Using "All the other shooters do this" is fraught with peril, because this game is nothing like those other shooters. Stats have a lot of valid use to a player, but without context are meaningless. Making them public deprives them of context, and just turns them into a forum e-peen weapon.
