I personally wouldn't buy an AMD system for gaming today, especially not one of their "quad cores". Will your motherboard not support one of the last gen intel quad 2 cores like a Q9550? Get a used one off fleabay if it fits, it'll be cheaper than buying a new system and plenty fast enough for your gpu.

Besides, the problem in MWO is that it doesn't fully use cpu nor gpu leading to pretty poor performance.

I3-2100 or the Ivy Bridge equivilant are good enough. My smaller computer has an I3-2100 and a GTX 580 and it maxes MWO out at 1440p with over 60fps steady.

I call BS on this. There is absolutely no way that system manages that framerate at 2560X1440, because my i7 3960X with 2 580s can't pull that off because SLI isn't working so only one card is utilized. Unless your talking about 1440X900 which is more believable, but that isn't 1440p its 900p. Even then though, I was stuck with a 1440X900 monitor and I still noticed some dips below 60 at that resolution.

Get an AM3+ socket motherboard and the recently released 8350 which performs great by it's value and highly overclockeable.
As for video an AMD 7850 or an 6870 which is more economical yet great card.
And 8 gb of high performance DDR3 ( don't buy cheap ram! )
PSU some decent brand 550watts will be ok for this rig.

1. Out of the OP's budget by what I understood.
2. The 7850 is by far a better value (after MIR) than the 6870, being more than 20% faster and uses less power. Although a new GPU is also out of the OP's buget at this time I believe.
3. So long as you get a good brand and are running at least DDR3-1333mhz, you won't see any problems with your RAM.
4. Brand is more important than listed wattage. Actual 12v wattage output would be fine ~400w, though for capacitor aging and the ability to upgrade further I would recommend at least a 500w 12v output. Of course, as stated, a new PSU is probably out of the OP's budget.

Vulpesveritas knows what hes talkin about.. especially when you're on a budget....

we can't tell you what you need to spend your money on but we can suggest from our experience.. in the end is completely up to the OP what he decides to do..
