I am just curious if anyone else has this particular problem. I have always been a Clanner (More particularly Steel Viper), and find the lore and culture of the Clans very intriguing, but when it comes to Inner Sphere houses, I really have a hard time choosing loyalties that can remain. I dont want to be the guy who jumps ship immidiatly following the Clan invasion (Which I think will be even a harder wait than the MWO release!), but aside from a few loyalty perks, is there really any reason not to just go Merc and wait it out?

I've had a few inclings to go house Stiener (Mostly because of the old Battletech Cartoon, god I wish there was a second season lol), or Draconis Combine due to them following Bushido, but I find it difficult to really choose a house. I am curious on other Clanner's expirences, and what they're currently looking for in a house or aligences.

I know of many that went with the Wolf Dragoons or Rasalhague. Really doesn't matter much I suppose if you're all going to inevitably jump ship when they come a knocking on the IS front door.

So basically, Merc for the Wolf Dragoons or Rasalhague for the fact they will encounter the Clanners first (ok besides the periphery). I suppose House Kurita wouldn't be bad since we regard highly of honorable combat.

I really do hate the inevitablity of jumping-ship. It'll be tough, especially if the clan tech is suppirior in game, which I hesitate to speculate as the game isnt even out yet, but that's another topic.

One of the things I guess I will have to watch for is the player-base themselves. Sometimes, all it takes is to be around good people to justify an allegance to a house

Here's the thing. What will MORE likely happen is that i will join a Unit and fall in Bromance with them and end up having a leadership role by the time the Clans get here. That's why I'm stalling... its all about the players, I mean, yeah being a Star Adder means something to me, but only because of the shared memories. If all my friends went to DC, well, I'd find a way to be hardcore Combiner. So... I'm just not ready for a relationship right now, ok?

I've always been a clanner. From my very first days of BT, I've been a Jade Falcon. But this... this is going to be difficult. To be with my clan mates and desert my lance-mates, or stay with my faction and give up my clan origins.... this is going to suck either way.

Is anyone else hoping that the Clanners are taking Bondsmen?

Nope :D

The Clans have never been an option for me as i started playing Battletech long before the Clans was invented. When they showed up it was as the enemy.

There is a part of me that wishes that was the case for myself (Granted, the other half wants to see you freebirth scum on the wrong end of an ER PPC, but we will leave that aside for now). Unfortunetly, my history started with Mechwarrior 2: Mercs, and only a handful of Battletech games, as it was hard to find people that played -.-. I am actually having a budy over later to play a few basic battletech games, hopefully we can start upping it for full rules, full contact, but that's beside the point.

So how is it you decided your loyalties, and became so dedicated to IS? I am sure it has nothing to do with the technological edge you nuked away.

It really started with the house sourcebooks. I liked House Steiner the most so they had my loyalty. They also had the TYR Assault regiment who was made up with Rasalhague patriots (TYR underground resistance movement against the Kuritan occupiers).

Then came the 4th succession war and the 20 year update book where the formation of The Free Rasalhauge Republic was described and as i am from Sweden IRL my allegiance immediately shifted to the FRR naturally even though i still like Steiner and look upon them as friends and allies.

Shortly thereafter the CLANS come along invading my dear FRR so for me they are natural enemies and i will fight them with everything i got.

That's why I chose mercs, I kind of enjoy the merc life anyway.
If they do anything with the clans, they likely won't use the clan I like most.
I am ok with this, so long as I can have a clan insignia somewhere on my mech. :D

I have been a CLANSMEN before, but never a CLANNER. And I would only choose a house in order to infiltrate them and acquire intel for the invasion...

I have 3 good option for the hard core clansmen.

1. play for the FRR. Since most of it will be lost to the clans. losing a lot of pilots to them wont hurt

2. Play for the FWL from the start . They have almost always been light on pilots compared to other faction
and could use the pilots even for a short time

3.Make a merc unit of all players that plan to join the clans when they become playable

I must confess... None of the present inner-sphere house appeal to me in the least. I find them all pious, self-indulged and arrogant.

Which I guess leaves my Mercenary dossier reading as thus: Good Mech pilot, doesn't play well with others and is highly opinionated.

Me'thinks I'm going to struggle putting food on the table... :D

Are you refering to the cannon or are you saying that so far it seems like they will have the smallest player-base?

Yes, because the IS has never known war till the Clans come along. *rolls eyes*

I'll be with the Kell Hounds.

I am playing as a Lone Wolf until such time as the Clans appear, hopefully as playable entities. that way I can 'jump ship' and not damage a merc unit.

I am very much looking forward to invading the IS with my beloved Jade Falcons!

I plan on staying Lone Wolf as an I.S. player, but I can see others ditching the Inner Sphere asap. I never really liked any of the houses, but if I had to choose one, I'd be in Marik. Back to the O.P., I would go lone wolf or Merc, just to keep bad blood to a minimum.

This is a big problem for me as i will be playing with IRL friends who are AFFS Players and even if they do defect we all like different clans i may play 2 accounts so i can keep the freebirths happy while i also work for the honor of Jade Falcon ofc we may meet on the same side once Victor/Kathrine loyalties rear their head

Wolf In Exile for life (and by association Clan Wolf). I started with MechCommander (and really only played MechCommander 2 after that) and when I played online I just happened to join Wolf in Exile. In anticipation for this game I've been trying to read up a lot more on the various stories and timeline for what happens.

Given all of that, and choosing solely based on ideology/philosophy, I think I would have to put my allegiance to Clan Wolf. Since there are no Clans in game (as of yet, at least) it was kind of a hard decision between the Free Worlds League and the Free Rasalhague Republic. I like the concept of a more open/free society, so I ended up choosing FWL; and if they're underpopped/underrepresented, even better.

Depending on how everything shakes out though, our group may end up going Merc. Can't wait for the game to come out to start figuring it all out and set forth for conquest.
