Believe it or not, I just today found out about this game. I'll admit that I am not as old as most of you, but I am a huge Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance/Black Knight/Mercenaries fan. However, I am not too well-versed in the BattleTech universe.

Anyways, I'm not sure if this information is already out there, or if this can be determined by BattleTech history, but does anyone know if some of these 'mechs will make an appearance in this game? They are all of my favorites from Mechwarrior 4.

Mad Cat
Thor
Uziel
Black Knight
Thanatos
Templar
Victor

Don't know for sure, but I can say some won't be since they are clan mechs. This is inner sphere only, at least until it advances to the clan invasion.

Madcat - Clan mech
Thor - Clan mech
Uziel - I might be wrong but I think this is a 3067 year mech
Black Knight - Not really sure about this one, havn't seen anything
Thanatos - 3067 year
Templar - 3085 year
Victor - Not sure..

Take whatever I say with a huge grain of salt... I am nowhere near an expert, all I did was google all of those and read the wiki. So some of my "facts" could be waaaay off. I am sure someone much more knowledgable will chime in.

The Black Knight and Victor could make an apearance before the Clan Invasion, but I doubt they will be in the game at launch.

The only mech on that list that I could see would be the Victor. The rest are from later books added to the BattleTech game when they came out with expansions to the technology.

This game is using just the original tech for now.

I have a list of mechs that exist during the current timeperiod below my sig.
It is no guarantee that they will show up in the game.

The Black Knight was first produced in 2578, so it may be in game at launch or shortly there after

OP, basically, because the game takes place in 3049, we won't be seeing any of those mechs, except for maybe the Victor, before the Clans invade in later 3049-3050. At that point, they maybe slowly phased in, as us in the Inner Sphere collect salvage.

Check the 3039 TRO for a pretty good idea of what could be included in the original release. Black Knight and Victor both meet the criteria. For the clan mechs we will see soon, check the clan section of the 3050 TRO.

Black Knight and Victor are the only 'mech within the time period we're looking at. Even then, neither are very popular or exceptional 'mechs, so I doubt even they will be added anytime soon. Lock?

The Black Knight, with it's close to medium damage profile (at least the low-tech 3039 version) could be a good contrast to the other two heavy mechs with their more balanced (Dragon) or long-range (Catapult) focus.

The Victor is basically the Hunchback's big brother. Not saying I wouldn't want it in the game eventually, but I'd like a bit more diversity in the starting mechs at launch.

Victor would be a great fit. Picture a jump-capable Hunchback with more armour.

- fought throughout the Succession Wars
- still in production in 3049
- not strictly exclusive to any one House
- upgraded VTR-9K model (gauss rifle!) just starting to come off the assembly lines
