Pendo? Crunchy in milk Pendo? An I remembering that right? Why is that one of the most clear memories I have of those games from 20 years ago? Very odd.

Lydia checking in.

I played mostly as a tech/vtol/quad pilot on Exile,a tech/tanker on 3030 and I played a little while on Frontier. It's great to see so many of the familiar names from those days.

Bog, Hey all,

Just ran into MWO today and it is good to see a few familiar names from 15 years ago.
Can't remember which all I played, but did so from like 93/94 till like 97/99 with classic telnet clients. They were good times, but, God, I can't even begin to put a guess which all servers I played actively on except 3056 I was the least active on and not even sure which faction I barely played with there. Was a DC member on the main one I played and ran with Carnifex, Heechee, Petey, and others I can't remember. After that server closed, ran with Hosis, Pendo, my DC fellas and some of the geno crew on the crawler themed MU* that followed for a bit and was pretty active on some of the arena style ones.

Used the handle Stryx or when I was in DC I would name myself something_Kurita just for RP kicks with the guys. It's been way too long fellas. Maybe we should be the old bag faction.

Just since I've replied to the other few threads, uh, hi. Former 1st Kathil Uhlans, 1st DG, etc. Lots of my formative years spent typing odd macro commands.

Anyhow, hoping we can make a merc group - I don't think I've quite figured out how to team up with people just yet.

nimrod checking in. Someone stole my name here, so I took a cooler one.

There's another one of these threads somewhere around here, and I think a bunch of other MUD players checked in there.

I saw Valen Perceival on TS the other night - I assume it was the same guy, but he was AFK while I was on (or ignoring me :D ).

Ahhh the memories.

Holy cr*p! I must have been away from the forums FOREVER if I missed this thread.

O'Donovan/Edward_O'Donovan (Irish) checking in. Was first in the 3025 chat MUSE where I met Guzzer, Hound, Shroom, and that gang. Went on to build part of FWL on '56 as Paul_Masters. Was player on most, builder on some, faction admin on some.

I led a Periphery faction on 3030 a couple times, I still remember yelling at a couple of our scout 'mech drivers who used to go map running late at night and lose 'mechs all the time. I finally ended up giving them WASPs and telling them to have fun. They ended up finding enemy firebase entrances a couple times, so I guess they were worth it. :D

Still remember being pissed on Varxsis when we had the PERFECT place for our crawler, then our FH decided to move it and we never had as good of a spot again.

Does anyone remember a player who had a female character who went by Katya? Full IC name was something like Katya Kostyevkova or some such. The player typed with a Russian accent and it was SO spot on that it was hillarious.

Oh, if you have a wizbit on one of the MU*s and can't remember the commands, there should be a @wizhelp command (if I remember correctly) which has them all in a hidden file.

Anyway, hi gang! I cast my vote for "The Expendables" as a unit name. It fits perfectly given the subject of the movies.

Laters!

Irish

p.s. You guys can keep your .h .s and all the rest of your dot commands. I had mine saved in TinyFugue so I could use them on any MU* without having to put them in a new file in each new game. Mine were all slash commands... /h /s . You guys didn't know what you were missing. :D

Is Pendo still in Berkeley? How is SOB? That guy was alright.
Irish - Hilarious. I forgot varxsis ever existed. I loved those mech designs.

Wow! It's great to see all you guys again! Tene, orbz, Bianca, vp, sob, mac, and whoever else I missed.

I was primarily a sim player but began playing RS when activity got low and it was a blast! However, as I got busier (and distracted by other things) I became a tech and became more and more idle. Honestly, I think I was better at idle driving that actually piloting haha!

stink123 on frontiers, and Stink Chu in RS/here. Please sign me up!

I remember them! My game names there were Scipio Hoth and Kelly Yukinov. I had a hand in designing the BJ-3 and VTR-9D for 3056. Also co-ran WD and commanded Alpha regiment there.
I also played on one of the Solaris type MU*s, won a tourney and got to design a custom mech for the game, was the Porcupine.

Wow these names bring back lots of memories. Specifically you, Angelicon ;) I'm probably not one of the better known people as I jumped factions all the time but I actually might have done a ToP against you. I do remember those WD Wolverine variants in the 3056 MUSE... loved those!

I started in 3056 and stayed there for a while, playing CC (MAC!) and FWL (CO of 1st FoO), and a little of DC (Genyosha and Nightstalkers); jumped to others as they popped up, most notably I think 3028? where I lead one of the Northwind Highlanders regiment (Harper Marion there).

If anyone is making up a group for MWO of MU** vets count me in, I'd like to participate! Just msg.

Yes, we officially DO have a unit full of old timers who used to drive in RS on the BTech MUSEs and MUXes.

Everyone come on over to the MUX website and say hi! Even if you don't join, you're sure to see some names you recognize from back in the day.

Way late to this party, but just got in the beta and - wow - does it ever take me back to the MU* days; I was hoping there was a thread on it in the forums, and here it is!

Recognize a lot of names in this thread (CKell!). I started off on 3056 with the Kell Hounds and went by Shad_Maxwell (alias smax), then was with 12VR for a while... spent more hours than I care to count on the Solaris simsite, and does anyone remember that offshoot site that was sort of a persistent campaign? I wish I could remember the name of it now, but it had mobile bases and resources to capture, and you'd run around hunting for tech boxes and things -- I was with Vigilance's Throne (VT).

Honestly, it's a miracle anyone put up with me at the time; it was a pretty steep learning curve for a 13 year old :)

Would love to play with all of you old-timers again.

Last time I went onto a Battletech Mux/Mush, you'd think that an alien being had landed in the middle of the game. I mean, come on, the moment they found out I was a *gasp* Female... I felt like I'd just made my way into the 'Boys Club' thing... As if there weren't any women who enjoyed hopping into the cockpit of a Battlemech and kill things.

Nah, don't think I'm gonna deal with that anymore. Just gimme a decent MechWarrior game with good Graphics an I'm a happy camper.
