Unit's custom insignia - "be, or not to be?"

I believe that insignia is a very important aspect for any community and serves in the first place not for a visual identification, but as significant part of the unit's philosophy and spirit.
What you think?

Remember when MW4 released and every single 'mech was pink with rainbows and ***** all over? They want to avoid that kind of unprofessional imagery in their game.

Its simple, really. By including a reporting system (as basically every online game these days has), you could report the obscene insignia, and then that person would lose the capability to have one, or their corp/unit would lose it (depending on how we would get insignias). That means the money it took the purchase the ability to use custom insignias would go down the drain. That would help keep people in line.

Now there's nothing to stop a unit from adopting a radical paint scheme (or at least I don't think there should be a restriction) like say neon pink or something, but at least it would keep trolls from putting a certain part of the male anatomy on thier mechs along with the words "Mine's bigger than yours!"
In case your wondering, yes, I did encounter such a person in a TT game. He had brought a custom drawn rendition of his mech, since he couldn't put it on the actual miniature. He was very proud of his work and more than just a little full of himself, as he casually insulted all the other players at the table before the game began. What I found really distrubing about the whole thing is that the person who brought the picture and was insulting everyone around him was only 12 years old.

I loved running into a Sunder loaded with AC 20 and 10's only to read the little custom decal this one guy had... It simply said:
"If you can read this you made a grievous tactical error!"

1. If there are never any "join-able" factions in house units, then the need for custom decals is less in my opinion. If there are multiple insignias for each house unit and decals for merc units to choose from, this may not be a huge issue. It depends on the "skins" available for the mechs, and how many decals there are to choose from.
2. Yes, you need to have thick skin to be able to deal with custom decals. In MW4 I loved customizing my mech with decals that took hours to make, but it was not a game breaker for me. NBT servers did not allow custom decals, I lived without it there and can live without it here. The "allow custom decals" button would help with that for people who cannot tolerate stupidity of some people.
3. Custom decals...sort of. So, if custom decals are a gamebreaker for most folks, lets think of the easiest way to make everyone happy.
The easiest way I know of would be to have a editor inside the main game. It would cost real money to use. The editor has sets of small squares to choose from, in many different colors. After a color is chosen, there is another layer. This layer has lines, crosses, shields, ect. The next layer has pictures commonly seen in mechwarrior of animals and objects like hammers, ect. If the Devs added enough selection per layer and 5 layers, you could have hundreds or thousands of combinations. While not perfectly custom, it is a custom decal that wont be offensive. Once the unit leader has designed the decal, he pays some $, and then the other people in that unit have the option to click a button on the decal and skins window to "Display Unit Decal". The right to display unit decals could even be a one time micro transaction, a one time $1 - $3 fee would not likely peeve anyone, and would generate some cash for PGI.

We have moderators to keep us honest on the forums. Why not have volunteer people vent the insignia to remove the unexceptable?
Then send them on to the devs for aproval/ adding to the game.
