What do you think? Battlemechs are always a plus. But in my opinion I feel battle armors are just as important in the Battletech universe. Should they be implemented in the MWO universe?

But that would give Clanners an advantage (like they don't have enough already). B)

First IS battlearmors are far later in the lore. ;)

Voting against but have to state why. I would love for battle armor to be in the game, I'd love for a lot of features to be in the game. But if all the features I want and the community wants were to be implemented and done properly... it's likely the game wouldn't actually release till 3049! And I'm not talking game time here.

The Battletech/Mechwarrior universe is one rich in detail. And because of that there are lots of little aspects that could really stand out. The problem is...there are lots of little aspects that can really stand out. For the sake of actually creating a viable product, there are constraints one has to work under. To fully develop many of the little details, would require huge investments of time and energy, and run the risk of doing harm to the concepts they're trying to focus on.

So again, while I'd love to have this and many other aspects, for the sake of practicality, I have to vote against.

I think that we need both infantry and battlearmor in this game.
Some vehicles would be nice too.

I'd make them AI assets that a warrior can bring with him into battle, your rank would dictate how many units you can field.
So Star Captain Random McBloodname can field two points of Elementals if he used them in battle.

I'm going to leave this one open... it seems that no matter how many times these threads get locked and we state that you will not be getting out of your 'Mechs, the topic keeps popping up. That being said, all future topics on battle armor will be merged into this. Then one day, we will make this thread explode. B)

In other words, won't be there due to present timeline, but might be implemented in the future as timeline allows. Voted No myself.

very hard to program battle armor right in the game. You don't have all the features at your disposal such as climbing on to a Mech and proper controls. Sadly, I have to say that the best battle armor usage in any Mechwarrior game was MechAssault 2 and it still only let you hack a mech when you latched on.

Voted 'No', and the big reason being I am having a hard time finding a use for them over-all in the game. Where mechs can remain at ranged combat, even the basic Elemental needs to get up close to start sheering armour off a mech and doing some real damage. I will admit, it would give a reason to bring back the machine guns (Anyone else having a hard time ever justifying the use of machine guns in any battletech game?).

Mechwarrior. Mech. Warrior. Not a BattlearmorWarrior.

I want to be able to go around on foot too, battlefield games also have both infantry and vehicle combat, Battletech also has these in books, like the Draconis ninjas.

Machine guns and small lasers become very useful once you have a BT game that incorporates more than just mech. Armor, infantry, they can kill mechs if allowed to roam freely.

I dislike battle armour.
I remember when my lance was scouting a planet in a BTech game, I was in a phoenix-hawk , the rest were in other medium/lights...
We picked up a strange com-signal, some derranged mech pilots talking jibber-jabber about "bidding"...
Then we were crawling with Ullers and a Cauldron-born.
Despite losing half the lance and most of my armour, we managed to take down the CB and were looking forwards to our salvage.
Then what happened?...Elementals...
Ended up running around the zone waiting for support to arrive after sending the remaining mechs of my lance back to refit..

Saying that, sure I would not mind seeing them in game, as and when they become relevant....Hopefully not for some time..And not smashing their way through my ****-pit, or planting explosives on my mech as I run around trying to swat them off.
But then I want to see all apects of combined arms B)

Battle armor would be difficult to implement correctly in a game intended for 12 on 12 battles, and with mechs. As a single BA trooper is not going to be a significant issue to a decent battlemech, but a squad of 4 or 5 of them would be, however a single squad would technically take a entire lance of mechs away from the team, for the equivalent of a single mech....

Hm... I like it. You go infantry and i will squash 10-15 of you with a single shot.

I have to say no, at least to player controlled battle armor, npc controlled I would have no issue with.

It would be fun to have them in. Battle armor can be quit a threat, especially in an urban environment. I'm not saying they should be in from the start, but maybe somewhere down the line, along with other vehicles, because I think it would enrich the game even farther. sure infantry, battle armor, and other vehicles are easy to squash when you're in a 20 to 100 ton mech, but if left alone they will wreak havoc, and can be very hard to keep track of sometimes. One can never underestimate the power of little bees!

I haven't played MechWarrior: Living Legends yet (computer can't handle it), but that game featured Battle Armor and it seemed to go pretty well, and I know at least MW2 and MW4 had Elementals. Would be worth trying.

Would b an interesting addition to the battlefield, having 2 keep an eye open for battle armours that can easily hide and relay tactical information back 2 the enemy lance B)
