I agree the Banshee is an iconic assault mech from the early days. Not one of the more elegant looking rides but still worthy of some respect and hey it's not an unseen!

There's a Banshee thread down in Suggestions with a poll & everything. It might be worth merging the 2 threads. ;)

If the Banshee shows up, it'd either signal the inclusion of melee (the only thing the 3025 base model is good at) or otherwise require the Steiner refit to be the basic model (which is an excellent 3025 assault).

The 3050 refit really made the Banshee a viable Assault mech with a load out similar to the Atlas 3050 and a faster speed. Armor is a bit light though. I would like to see this mech in the game. It would give the folks complaining about the glacial speed of assaults something to work with. The 4/6 (TT) speed is like some of the mediums we know will be in the game. Sort of like the Battlecruiser class of the first WW.

Even as a Steiner player, I'm not convinced. Most of the non -S models are real dogs, and wouldn't hold up well against everything else out there. The -S models are excellent, to be sure. But the -S models don't become common until the 3050s (with the -5S introduced in 3053, give five or ten years for production to fill the ranks).

Also note that the 3025 BNC-3S model is 3/5, same as the Atlas.

I think a look at the far more common Zeus would be in order. Not only is it also an iconic 'Mech of the LCAF(and later, lyran side of the AFFC), but the other houses use it too in smaller numbers. It's 4/6, which would fit the "battlecruiser" fast Assault concept.

In 3049, there are three models available as well. 3 SW-era tech models, none of them particularly bad, and the -9S is also in production as of 3048. While it's debatable if such recent production would be seen frequently, infrequently, or at all with units such as the ones fighting in MWO, it at least opens possibilities.
