is it still going be saddled with the narc? people do realize that the narc's max range is inside the minimum range of LRM's right? that the system only works when the narc is mounted to mech that does not occupy the LRM support-fire role. There's a reason the narc is never mounted to any variant of the Catapult, it's not the Catapults job to use narcs, rather to take advantage of them. Same goes with ON1-M, the narc is a waste of tonnage that could go into other stuff.
from a military design point it's redundency factor. If your scout gets taken out then the trebuchet can go in and mark a target and have the speed/mobility to get back out. Fire support mechs wouldn't have to reposition to still be affective.

understandable, but again, minimum range of LRMS > narc beacons long range. if the enemy is already within your LRM minimum range, you are no longer a reliable fire support platform, and the enemy has successfully gotten inside your weak area. No amount of narc is going to save you if your primary firepower is negated. Also, in MWO players will be customizing their mechs all the time and very much so to complement their lancemates. How many are going to keep the narc? almost none, because they'll already have a lance mate with a narc, that's why I'm saying it shouldn't be there to start off, frees up the tonnage for more offensive power. Heck, Artemis IV is a better alternative than narcs because you can still keep the enemy at range and maintain better missile accuracy for a 1.5 increase in weapon tonnage.
