You'll find their mechs in the field just south of here. (queue various mechs of all shapes and sized milling about in a random field)
Go in there, give them a taste of Liao justice and bring me as many lower left leg actuators as you can as proof of the deed !
I don't know, just doesn't sound quite right

Especially when the Davions will just wander aimlessly around picking daisies and never notice Bob being blown to bits even tho' Ted and Alice are easily within visual range.
Then, mysteriously, fresh reinforcements will arrive just in time for the next batch of daisy picker killers to blow up.
repeat after me; Loot Piñatas. /facepalm

This is not going to be an MMORPG. It is an MMO. The distinction is that there is NO in-game story questing. All of the story is flavor outside the actual gameplay. The core of the game is galaxy-map domination through PvP matches.
So you know how in WoW, PvPers sit around Ironforge between PvP matches? The game is more like that, but without an avatar to wander around with or play tile-hopping games.

"Logistics and battlefield awareness should play a role as well considering you’re piloting a massive powerhouse into combat." - this is more of a battlefield scale instead of the big picture.

I am also hoping for some PVE...(The crowd grows quiet in shock, then runs for pitchforks)
Before you burn me at the stake, hear me out! I do not want the standard PVE experience found in most games. What I would like is instead of dropping into a PVE match, why not a co-op or single player drop into a mission zone against computer players? An organized mission as found in MW4 Mercs? I don't remember any daisy picking mechs in that...they weren't the best AI, but there have been many advances in programming in the last decade, that would allow for fixes. I am not suggesting the standard PVE persistent world, but perhaps a series of mission. A model based off of any standard fantasy MMO is out, but if in a years time or more there was a random mission generator built that would randomly select different objectives and maps (as well as difficulty levels based off of your location, ect), I would be fine with it. I love PVP, but I would have no problem with PVE if it was done right...as in sets of missions...no flower picking.

Let's add som computer driven tanks and helicopters for the shake of variety since this small units need very little IA.
And just give each side a series of targets, like you must defend the three factories, and the other team get something like you must find out in wihch of teh factories they are producing the new prototype and then destroy it. That creates a shifting mission with tangent targets so defense must spread and attack has to recolect information before strike or go brute force.
You can create any type of endless different misions using even the same maps from deathmatch.

HOWEVER, what if you could have administrators or volunteers playing under the mantle of E? Volunteers playing as E would not be able to develop the pilot or position of E within a game, but perhaps could earn C-bills for playing E.
This way the Devs could focus on strategic and logistic game mechanics without working on AI.
Then we could have whole new dimension of Mercenaries and volunteers tasked with playing out the objectives that followed the lore of the Mechwarrior Universe. If they failed in their objectives, so be it. The community would have the loose adherence to Lore they have voted for so far.
Just a thought.
Hold Tikonov. If it costs you your lives hold Tikonov.

I think the rewards would have to be balanced so that it wouldn't become a farmable instance thing. I also think it could get a larger more varied player group into the game. So yes, I would play PVE content co-op if/when it is added to the game.
