There will also be a significant lack of personnel in for the week where I work since we'll all be at home with posterior glaucoma. (That's a medical condition where you can't see your a$$ coming into work)

An IP is not a reliable way to identify a user. ISP's can hand you out a different one each time the current "lease" is up. That can be less than a day's time and you get a new IP. Also, users can spoof their IP's.
