Lasers are the best example to show the issue, instant travel means if you point at something and shoot with lasers you should hit. Currently that's not always the case. Lasers remove user error like bullet drop/travel time, missile mechanics etc..

I wish they would show server side where my lasers are going. Client side is useless. At least then I could chain fire and track onto the target. It happens with ballistic weapons, why not lasers?

Gotta say, this issue is so pitiful its a tragedy . The only thing that matters in a game like this is hit detection and what we have is far worse than mw4. So much worse. who gives a flying fr ak what the game LOOKS LIKE>. Who cares... What we care about is hit detection and damage models and what we have is quite literally a steaming pile of dung that is littered with OP srm streaks and jenners and cicadas running amok.
We have thousands playing this damn game and meanwhile mwll has 20. 20 people playing a vastly superior game that all it needs is bodies to populate to make it shine.
When are the devs gonna fix this? who knows... But I betcha they will have devoted x amount of manhours to some new aspect of the economy designed to screw us over more for the tuesday patch.
utter nonsense.

It has been theorized that the really bad hit detection (hits not registering on stationary & shutdown targets) is caused by a position mismatch following a collision. I think that this is highly likely.
Is it possible that the standing up animation (complete with its incorrect position + teleport) was fixing this issue and now that collisions & knockdown animations have been removed, the problem is visible?
Some videos pointing out the bad hit detection:

How many of these videos showed their ping?

well normally i would agree with your higher standard of data. But I've experienced this from a more interesting view point. From what ive seen I believe the server is overcompensating for lag. Try using streaks they will apply damage even when they clearly fly far off to the left with my ping of 45ms I've done this with lasers and literally have to aim behind them to hit them dead center. I first noticed the problem when my srm6s nailed a jenner who had clearly out paced my firing arc, i fired as he walked off screen and he exploded (i was the last man standing and no one else was around) I first believed it was overheating but he called out nice shot over the chat. Obviously my first reaction was " whut?" then I began to look more closely at the hit detection and noticed that many of my "misses" dealt more damage than hits. I heard somewhere collision also effects the hitboxes but I havent had enough occurrences to test that thoroughly

Ping doesn't matter, my ping is usually under 50ms and I have to lead lights with lasers at times. I blasted a Cat with a red torso FOUR times in the chest without it registering.
