Perhaps they'd let you do something like what I've done and have your Stalker be broken?
Or it works, but you don't have the money to enter the big games, and it'll be a while before you can afford to enter AND repair your mech if you lose, so you've broken out your Cicada that you got as your very first 'mech and are competing in the lower tiers until you have the money on hand.
Curse that Daddy of yours who just *will not* give you an advance on your allowance...

Hopefully, but i have to ask . I´d go for pretty much broken down mech, wich has to be fix´d before useage <_<

So how does it look Thom ( or anyone lese from the gms ) ? Would it be possible for me to own a stalker, wich lies broken in the Mechbay, awaiting major repairs ?

I love how no one owns a fully functional mech without having a broken one in the basement <_<

I prefer the Behemoth or the Devastator, Stalker never appealed to me - though FD did do a great job on the redesign

That´s partically why i picked Cicada and Stalker. I don´t like the original Designs, they look so ... childish.

But i guess i have to wait what the GMs say to that :P

Markus is a heavy pilot, but I had him start out dispossesed and with only 10K C-bills which he kinda 'borrowed' from personal belongings of Ardan Sortek. Or however you spell his name, yes the Prince's Champion. He took over the Free Tikonov Republic after Ridzik's assassination.

Oh and barring any protest from Gozer, you got my approval Chaos.

Wouldn't mind hearing about how your girl lost her legs

You guys are on the 16th still? *facepalm*

Thanks ^^
I quite enjoyed writing it. I wasn't very happy with the last bit on the proving grounds, but it's 7AM here, I've been on the phone half the night and my brain is bust xD
I could only remember what I'd intended to do and not how I meant to do it...So it reads off kilter to me.
But I did quite like sparring with Erin and seeing where it took me. Plus, giving Jack a claymore to use as a crutch amused me. I wanted to give him a crutch, but then I couldn't justify sticking him straight into a mech. Screams 'crippled'. And I can't picture this overweight, bearded, alcoholic, Scot/German pirate using a cane. And then I thought 'Claymore'. It's closer to a staff, which I could picture, and it's just the right type of crazy.
You don't think I godmoded at all with Erin? I was kind of iffy about ruling her actions like that, but I wanted to set it up so that Jack could link up with you guys and join DeMarkus and for it to be perfectly logical in character if he stays with the Rainbow Stables or leaves if we all set up our own. I'd have run it by you again but I didn't want to come back to the other's having caught up to date and left the grounds for the day!

Rogue's writing of Erin felt seamless, from my point of view. Very enjoyable read!

On another thought, we seem to have a temporal anomaly. In one case, Alex, Frederick and Bertie are out on the proving grounds on the 16th, and in the other Jack and DeMarkus are on the proving grounds (with implications of Alex, Frederick and Bertie) on the 18th.

Which works fine, assuming we head back out there in two days time, except that I'm not expecting Bertie's Enforcer to be quite so...intact by then, what with his match on the 17th...

[Stream of ideas]
Perhaps your match was cancelled, or Heather was hurt in the mechbay? You did comment about how one day she'd get herself stomped on at the end of your last post, so it would be very readable if she was to do something silly. Say...she's wandering around the bay looking at mechs and sees one with an interesting insignia, runs over to get a closer look. Clambers up a ladder to get a look but falls off and cracks her head off the ground? Or it's on the shin and she walks to within a few feet of it, doesn't know it's in start up and gets kicked when the pilot, not having seen her, steps forward.
Or hey, maybe Bertie is just insanely lucky and mows everyone down without a problem. Let's say...one of the leg actuators gives out, and he's slow to get near any of the action. When he does get close, everyone is distracted and a bit knocked up. So he starts sniping, hanging back and kill stealing.

The first of those sounds workable, much as I hate hurting the little munchkin :P

I've already got plans for how I want Bertie's first match to go (not so insanely lucky), and Vulpes and I have been nutting it over, but a delay due to parental concern could actually work in the favour of tension.

I'll do some brainstorming on that and get a post out in a bit. Might not be until tomorrow my time (18 hours from this post) as I've got an event in RL I'm heading to now (but might write while there).

Name: Diedrich Knickerbocker
Callsign: Holzfäller
Date of Birth/Age: July 21, 3007 (24 years)
Current Mech: Hatchetman
House Affiliation: Steiner (Lyran Commonwealth)

Military History: 6 years with the 6th Lyran Guards Mech Corps oh Hesperus II, with no major engagements, numerous training exercises, and one odd Pirate skirmish which earned him his callsign, Holzfäller, where he single handedly (quite literally seeing as his mech was missing an arm at the time) destroyed a light lance of pirate mechs back to back with his mech's hatchet, like a lumber jack in the woods. Now currently looking for employment on Solaris VII either as a merc or stables jock with a heavy preference for the former rather than the latter.

Physical Description: 5'5", 135 lb, slim athletic build, sun tanned Caucasian skin, green within blue eyes, brown-sandy blond naturally wavy hair left to grow wild, and currently sporting a full beard and mustache, both of which are fairly well groomed. German-English decent. Usually seen wearing dark blue civilians with an old brown leather bomber jacket and black combat boots, looking at first glance like quite the disheveled wreck.

Open Background: Born on Hesperus II to his father a Lyran MechWarrior, Wilhelm Knickerbocker, who was passing through while on assignment, and a local middle manager at Defience Industries' Hesperus II factory, Rosalinde Hauptmeier, the couple kept in contact and eventually married if only briefly before divorcing due to irreconcilable differences, while Diedrick was primarily raised by his mother but kept in contact with his estranged father. However when Diedrick showed great interest in following his father's footsteps, Wilhelm laid the ground work for his son to attend the Sanglamore Academy on Skye as he had done before him. Though throughout his attendance Diedrick struggled to pass his MechWarrior training and through perseverance and a little luck he managed to do so, but no where near the top of his class. His assignment to the 6th Lyran Guard was partially attributed to a clerical error with a healthy dose of good fortune.

Deep Background: The truth of how Diedrick was transferred to the 6th Lyran Guards "Saucy Six" on Hesperus II and obtained his current mech is a little known secret, but is that his mother pulled a great many strings with the 6th Lyran Guard Commander, Leutnant-General Daniel Voss-Steiner, as well as with the Hesperus II factory managerial staff to supply the 6th Lyran Guards with a shipment of fresh Hatchetman HCT-3f's battlemechs so long as her son would be transfered to the unit and provided with one. The very same one he pilots now.
Another little known secret about Diedrick is his tendency to enter a berserk state when under great stress, such as in the middle of a losing battle being hammered on all sides with no way out. However, these violent episodes are thankfully far and few between given in no small part to Diedrick's usual "Laissez-faire" attitude to life, but did nearly result in his expulsion and arrest at Sanglamore when another cadet and his comrades attempted to jump Diedrick for kicks only to wind up in the infirmary with near fatal wounds, as well as his callsign Holzfäller when his comrade watched from her downed mech as he charged four enemy mechs and "cut them down like trees before a lumber jack", as she would attest to his brutal but effective use of his Hatchetman's hatchet.

I think Thom was saying you're good to go, though that may be retconned if Gozer raises objections.

Be aware I'm currently working a little chrono-magic to shift those of us on the 16th up to the 18th of April, so be careful about writing stuff that references that continuity. With any luck, everything should be solid again shortly (and for many of you, I may have posted in the RP thread by the time you read this)
