The command console has no function at the moment.

In the TT its giving an initiative bonus, its pretty much a second cockpit in the mech so the force commander can command while his "personal pilot" keeps the mech going and alive

That will be sooo good to be able to pilot and command the same mech, two players in the same body...
Like in Battlefield games with multiple people into vehicles... :)
Hope this gameplay can and would be introduced. Sadly I think about player limitations of the engine/servers, intended to be 12 vs 12 at most...
Hope I'm wrong because there eventually command player will not charge servers more than a battling player ?

Yeah, I used to play a lot of Battlefield 2142. You get bonus points for following orders of your commander and the commander get points for his orders Battlefield 2142.
So basically adding an incentive like +xp or +credits would kinda promote the commander function.

The problem is, any ***** who knows this would grab the commander seat as soon as his map loaded, even if he does not have ANY idea what to do and does not give commands. Just hoping the team will magically win and he gets bonus cash...

I've been taking command and leading every pug I've been in, exception of one where we got a fairly shoddy commander, but everyone has to learn. I've also been teaching the pugs what the symbols work and recommending ways to follow the commands and read the map for dangerous areas. I've won most of my pugs since I've started commanding too, people do listen, as surprising as it is to some. Anyone wants help commanding or understand the symbols you can hit me with a PM.

I suppose a voting system could solve that. If the commander is not up to the job the team can vote to remove him from his position.

First, press "b" to bring up the large map. Next click on "Take Command" at the top left corner (only 1 commander at a time I believe). You can then issue orders by clicking (right clicking?) on the map at the location you want the order and selecting the order from the list that appears. Right now I think you are limited to a single order at a time.

As commander you will also have any text to your team be listed in yellow and stating that you are the commander.

Oh, so THAT's what that is....good to know.

matches here are t short for that.
Though i don't think people will just grab the position to farm XP, as you would only get rewarded if people would actually follow your orders, which implys that you are giving orders in the first place. If people see, your orders are obviously ********, they won't follow

Old thread is old.

I remember the first day of the new twin lance system and two commanders, Lordred claims to have received over a million cbills following the orders I laid out, and I got 600,000 cbills without premium as the commander. But since the patch after that one, we've never been able to recreate the payout. But we never got players to listen to the orders since then either.

I wish that one player on each team could be a dedicated commander (so, not in a mech but focusing on strategy).
