Hello guy's, Nice to see there is some RP fan here.
I would happyli join your RP team but since I'm French (in France) and I go in Italy for a month with out internet next week.
it's gonna be too hard for me.
There is also the fact that I know NOTHING about MechWarrior, only some name and some gun, but nothing about the game themselve....

Took me nearly 20 minutes, but I worked it out. It's legit
Solaris Skunkworks is a nice program.
I found the Grasshopper and Ost line to be very bland mechs when I looked at them. They just don't have that...hint of style and character. I just find the art to be sadly lacking, and the Grasshopper to be underarmed for it's weight.
Plus, who makes a hunter-killer with less speed than what it's hunting?

Low ammo is not very fun.

Realistically or thinking strategically it would make sense to focus on some energy heavy mechs.
On that note the Grasshopper and Ostsol strike me as rather fitting for a borderline pirate.

What mechs do the Quartet have so far?
Sparky is bringing a Trenchbucket. Chaos a Stalker. It sounds like Rogue is set on a Helepolis, and as for myself I was thinking about a Raven, but if we're not doing the missile team of death (I agree low ammo is not fun) I'm thinking maybe a Vindicator or a Wolverine. Either way I'd have to get the okay, and pull out some fluff on how I stole such a costly vehicle.

Default loadout If i can´t have 2 ACs, i´ll take the default .
Or i _may_ be switching one zap gun from one arm and the srm in the lower torso to a second AC . Just have to figure out, if i have enough space and weight to do so
If not, F. this

Well, lets see.
At this time, there's really only one variant of the Atlas, the AS7-D. Scary short range monster. An AC/20, an SRM6, four medium lasers (two rear mounted) and a LRM 20 if they want to run away. Neither this, nor any future variants have twin AC/s as default, and you'll find it hard to fit a second AC/20 in there.
However...
...if you strip out the AC/20, its ammo, and the SRM6 and its ammo, you can fit a pair of those new-fangled Ultra AC/5s and two tons of ammo in the space left by the AC/20. Same damage per second as the AC/20, same length of fire time (a fairly short 100 seconds at full speed), but you have the option of slowing your firing speed and have more than double the range. You do lose the SRM6, though.

And how´s this : I strip both rear lasers and the SRM6 in the lower torso and fit a second AC/20 in there. Would this work ?

Hmm...not easily. You're trying to find 14 tons for the AC/20, 16 if you want it to fire anything. The SRM6 weighs 3 tons. The medium lasers, a ton each. And that's not counting the space required...
...in a way, that makes it easier for us. The ONLY way you could bolt a second AC/20 onto the Atlas would be to remove everything in the left torso. Which means we'd be scrapping the LRM20 as well. For the sake of argument, we can move the single heat sink on that side to an arm, and with the 16 tons we have free from scrapping all the missile systems (LRM20[10 tons] + 2 tons of ammo + SRM6 [3tons] +1 ton of ammo) we can cram an AC/20 in there.
What you now got is basically a Hunchback IIC, but better armoured and slower. Your firepower has also dropped, both in quanity (you've replaced the 32 points of damaged generated by the missiles with 20 points) and in range (the LRM had a range out to 610 metres, your maximum range is now just 270 metres) Without speed, this'll have to rely on its foes being foolish enough to come to it or being able to outrun them. Unless your sole targets are going to be Annihilators, UrbanMechs and buildings, this'll be a Bad Plan. Plus, the Annihilator matches you for firepower quantity, and still out ranges you with its AC/10s.
If you wanted to, you could keep the AC/20 and put a pair of Ultra AC/5s in there instead of the second AC/20, but you'd be extremely ammo limited, and you'd only have the arm lasers left. Arguably a Worse Plan.
