Please add knockdowns back to the game, they added a level of realism and fun to the game that many of us are missing. The kept a real feel to the movement of mechs and you had to pay attention to another mech that was tens of tons heavier.

It's annoying as **** to overrun an enemy mech and he's shooting you in the back, or watching a Jenner clip through a melee of Awesomes. It's made the game worse to remove knockdowns. Sure, the bounding boxes were a little weird, some of which surely owing to latency, but it was a great addition.

I would very much like to see Knockdowns re-implemented.

I want them back too. Light mechs are everwhere now. Heck even I'm using one because there's almost no downsides.

I agree.
We do need the Knockdowns re-implemented but slightly less frequent than it did before.
Some times it was like a wrestling match instead of mech battle :D

Knock downs were a convenient way to counter light mechs that ran around merrily shooting you in the back and taking out mechs several times their weight. Also I eagerly await the addition of melee combat to perhaps allow for hatchet-equipped battlemechs to maybe make an appearance in the game.

Agreed - I sometimes play an A1 Cat, and when I've lost my ears, I'm no longer good for anything - it used to be that I could go crashing into Jenners and things, sending them sprawling on the ground, while my teammates finished them off.

I heard that knockdowns were taken out simply to rework them, and they'll be added back in at a later date.

Indeed, this is the case. Technical issues required their removal, but they won't be gone forever...unless the devs all die of the plague...or are abducted by aliens...or anything else similarly catastrophic and unlikely happens.

aye aye
knockdowns were part of the tactics - against lights, against several enemies etc.
and it was an excellent feature "just to be there" - so you need to drive carefully
bring it back please - reworked or not

The problem is you are all thinking that the average person is a nice, caring, honorable player.

The sad reality that can be seen from the number of suicide trial mechs, DC's etc is that if there is an exploit there - people WILL use it.

Knockdowns were broken and prone to griefing. Trust me on this, if they had gone live with the version of knockdowns from closed beta the forums would be flooded with 2x the number of posts asking for it to be removed. It was BROKEN.

The devs are very aware that knockdowns have to go back in. I'm betting that it is very, very high on the priority list now. However they need to do it right. They will be implementing melee in the future, and they need to make sure the knockdown system is robust enough to handle the extra melee aspects.

It is better to do it right the first time, rather than constantly try to tweak a broken system once it is in production. Or as they say "measure twice, cut once".

If you are having trouble with lights without knockdowns, adapt your play style to compensate. When a light gets on top of me I laugh as they have just taken away their biggest advantage, which is mobility. All you need to do thanks to the hitbox size is fire straight on top of them and all your weapons will hit. I've killed quite a few lights who tried the trick on me that way.

If they are getting behind you, it is no different to what you will experience when knockdowns are back in, they will just have to run 5m to your right first before getting behind you. The same tactics apply - keep backs to walls, choose the battle field in narrow corridors or have cover nearby. Take away their advantages and make them come to you on your terms.

All of this is only temporary anyway until they are brought back in. Plus the skills you build now will serve you well once they are back in - imagine if you can take down lights when they have an advantage, then once knockdowns are back in you will find them even easier. The smart players aren't abusing the mechanic either - you will learn bad habits that may get you killed when knockdowns are back in.

As a Commando Pilot I approve this Message. Bring Back the KNOCK DOWNS, please. It is no fun any more being able to run through your prey and not have to dodge huge feet and knees. Tackle Dragons forever.

That's interesting, where did you find this info? I'd like to read more about it.
