Would you guys prefer modules to be usable on ALL chassis, or to be chassis specific (and if the latter, are you talking Mech by Mech specific? Weight class?)

ie. A module which increases reticule zoom 10%. Would you want this to be purchasable and installable on any Mech? Mechs only with/without enhanced optics? Only lights? etc. What's your reasoning?

BONUS QUESTION: Do you think modules should be able to stack effects? (even if at a degraded performance, ie a module that has 'ranks'. For example, in a Mech that can take 3 modules, you equip 1 module for reticule zoom and "rank" it 2 more times so it takes up alll 3 slots, but maybe now gives +20% (notice, not a scalar increase in performance)? (to "rank" a module, you'd have to have that many of it, ie, 3x reticule zoom modules working in tandem)

Personally, I hope any module can work with any Mech. I'm a little on the wall about ranked modules.

From everything the devs have said about Modules, I would be very surprised if you couldn't mount any module on any mech. It's the one thing that isn't restricted in Mech-lab, because it defines our characters rather than being tied to a particular ride.

So what about "daisy chaining" the same module for increased (but non-linear) gain?

1x Reticule Zoom Module = +10% Zoom
2x Reticule Zoom Modules = +15% Zoom
3x Reticule Zoom Modules = +20% Zoom

Of course, certain Modules might state "Cannot be chained" or "Maximum of X chained modules" to limit that. But it would add another layer of customization.

It's a possibility. I would worry that some might be potentially unbalanced, such as the zoom example. Too much zoom could potentially allow an already nimble scout 'mech gain LOS from some extreme distances.

However, as you stated certain modules could be limited to not being chained.

And the beauty of the F2P model is constant updates and tweaks.

Cheers.

Well, the numbers are always used to give an example, and not indicative of the final numbers, but moreso used to showcase an example. The numbers would get adjusted accordingly.

I definitely hope to see a wide variety of modules with some unique traits that, depending on my role, warrant different uses (and chaining!) :)

Of course. I was using your example as an example, for example. :P

I like the idea, and think if anyone could implement it ,PGI could.

Cheers.

While being able to mount modules in any given Mech there will of course be times where it makes no sense - Missile module in a laserboat, etc. Other than those types of examples any module should be usable in any Mech where it would be of use. And even then you could fill the slot with a worthless module if one is retentive like that.

Stacking? Chaining? hmm... Sounds right and will be interesting to see what they eventually evolve to be.

Didn't they already say we can swap modules we unlock between different 'mech chassis? I'm pretty sure that came out of the Role Warfare Q&A...
