OK so what kinds if any terrain are you using in your table top games or do you just use the old fold out maps.
If you are using terrain and miniature builds what manufacturers are you using and were do you get them?

Get creative with paper! Super cheap and really looks great on the table. Sarna.net has a bunch as well and it's totally free...

I make my own and sell them on ebay from time to time. I use the pink and blue foam board piece and a hotwire foam cutter to shape. Then I paint them for desert, snow, rocks, and grass. Actually working on some now was gonna post some pics when I finish them. I don't buy the foam board I just pick up the pieces I find on the side of the road, and recycle it!

Three Infinity tables created by my man J-Rat. The Space Station table was my personal favorite to play on. There was simply no hiding from my KrazyKoalas(face-hugging-smart-bombs).

Except for the odd custom scenario that needs a special map. For that, there's hexpaper and crayons colored pencils.

I planned to do 3D terrain, but didn't get around to do it yet. I'm always getting sidetracked with something else. Then again, it's not a very high priority project for me. *looks at a bunch of minis that want to get painted*

Map sheets for Battletech of couse, but since I grew up in a Avalon Hill and SPI household there were plenty of other maps around too. Panzer Blitz, Panzer Leader and the rest of the family make for fine maps in Battletech.

I'm going to be starting up TT again once I finish school in a few weeks, and I plan on doing something similar to what those links showed, or use something like Heroscape. My friends and I would always forget elevation change on a normal hex map, especially when extra terrain like woods was in the way as well. Plus, it just plain looks better.

A while back (when I had the space) I got creative with a jigsaw.

Used 30mm wood and cut terrain levels with the jigsaw blade at 45 degrees (to create a sloping terrain level piece). Used bigger pieces as the base and stacked the smaller pieces on top. this made my terrain infinitely customizable from one game to the next.

A word of caution though... Watch your fingers with the smaller pieces

Are we talking CBT terrain or MW:DA terrain? If CBT I'll refrain from posting as my exhaustive searches for MW:DA scale terrain have given me very interesting finds but my CBT terrain is lacking.

I was talking about Classic Battle tech terrain. I found a couple of places that have the right scale for the game. I will post the links tonight when I get home from work.

Also worth a look there is a guy in Europe who has the rights to some of the old Ground Zero Games 6mm buildings which suit the CBT rather well.

Build my own...Play hexless on 6' x 4' tables.

Mech base...with mech hangars and fortress. Hangars are old PC speakers, Fortress is from the Mall Madness boardgame.


City terrain. Mostly old packing materials or plastic Mushroom containers from the grocery store.


Oh yeah...Started making Solaris VII terrain too...

we use fold out maps with some added hexes from MapPro and of course I have been downloading 6mm terrain and buildings but havn't put any together yet. need more color ink cartridges and at $35 a pop needing two been putting it off.

Awesome terrain Ranger Bob! It looks like that's the way to go just kit bashing buildings. Lord knows I've accumulated a ton of empty packaging containers should make a suitable buildings. Thanks for the pics too.
