[pov]
I got into closed beta a little more than 3 months ago. I have never joined a pre made group and don't plan on it until voice chat and such are 'ingame' as opposed to 3rd party apps and websites and such. Even after said mechanics are included ill probly still pug but at least be able to use voice chat to 'lead' my team. Now ive played between 10 and 20 matches today and actually managed to pull more than a 60% win ratio thanx to either dropping with pre made teams or taking some charge and helping my pug mates figure out where to go and what to do.
[IDEA]
we need some kind of proving ground where you face AI enemies or targets and your rating from said mini game gives you a 'rank' then drops can be arranged by 'player rank' as well as weight class and such. this would also serve as a training ground for new players (NOTE: players can re-***** anytime to get a higher 'rank') Each 'proving ground run' would be in a trial 'Mech/stock variant (no customizing to min max results) and therefore each 'test' should be geared towards multi weapon type load outs (this would help teach people the value of a wide range of weaponry as opposed to 'boating') for your first time running the proving ground 'missions' you could make some big bucks to help towards buying a 'Mech of your own and again for return pilots they can get a higher rank. Scores from the proving ground could 'stack' allowing for high level commission type 'Ranks' (again giving incentive to run the proving ground more than once and do well)
[gripe]
Over all i think my point is that winning or losing 8-0 is no fun and just starts to feel like counting instead of playing. As a veteran of the battletech franchise (having my roots in TT and the early DOS games, Mechwarrior 1 and the crescent hawk series) I want to play other skilled players but I don't necessarily want to 'group' with them in 3rd parts apps and chat rooms. having a rank would help to minimize the uneven matching going on. You cant just rank according to the 'player stats' as those are pretty much dependent on who you drop with not your own personal skill level.

Because most people either aren't insightful enough or simply can't be bothered to actually putting thought into a problem and come up with an inteligent answer, especially on the internet. Also some people play purely to pubstomp, it's a form of self-validation.

The game has a solo-queue option, as a result it should do it's utmost to make anyone who uses it have a positive experience. Team game does not mean pre-made game - it means you are placed on a Team with other people. Pubs are perfectly capable of playing together even without Voip.

Pretty good explanation IMO...

The main reason is that alot of the hardcore players who group do no realize or simply do not care that the vast majority of the net users simply do not have the time nor inclination to organize. It is the same reason why 98% of the World of Warcraft playerbase never played the top end raids .

the premade players simply either do get the idea that this game should be judged like all others available. I know it is stupid to suggest that this game should be on par or competing with say WoW or Farmville but that is the reality that there is only so much time available and the playerbase is so diverse . Fact is no one plays ONE game exclusively anymore and that you ARE competing for the players time with ALL AND FUTURE existing products.

which is why first impression count so much, once the pug goes, this is **** ,he is gone and likely forever

A it is a "Team" game so if it is not going well for you solo why not try it as a team?

B Once you do, you'll quickly find you learn things.

C Mechs are not OP, Weapons systems are not OP, TEAMWORK is OP, and communication makes it easy.

I have no "ego" in this game, there are many solo pug players I'm sure that could 1 on 1 take me down without even sweating.
But it is a TEAM game, you drop with 7 other guys. Now you can work with those guys, or you can compete with them for kills.

Seems to me if your going to work with them, the smart thing is to be able to talk to them without having to stop and type.

But suit yourself.

You solo types like to label all of us who team up as smack talking ego centric pug stomping azzhats.

Well I'm beginning to think all you pugs are a bunch of "me first, my kill get away, selfish antisocial boors" that are unwilling to change in any way.

Shrug, ok, your choice, but don't whine to me about your 10 straight lost games.

"Join a group" is probably the most given answer because, as players, it's really the only solution we have to countering other groups. Not like we can alter the match making mechanics ourselves.

Now, if that becomes the dev's official final answer, then I can see some legitimate griping.

Why is "I dont feel like it" the only answer to "why dont you join a group?". Based on what my unit does and how we work together, there is literally no excuse. You are only punishing yourself by refusing to play a team game right and by staying a solo guy. If you wont join a team in a team based game, then stop complaining and find preorder the next Call of Duty. It better suits the one man play style...
Yea, ok so maybe they need a better matchmaker, but guess what? Its hard to quantify how "good" a player is. A system could take months to produce well, and we are only in BETA. Give it time, dont whine, and they will fix the "problem" soon. Really in most cases, the real "problem" is random pugs grabbing trials, doing whatever and not thinking. Premades aren't better because its unfair, they're better because most pugs are just wasting time trying to grind for better stuff and dont even put in an effort. The problem is not premades, its other pugs...

This game should be like Left 4 Dead. Matchmaker should let you join a lobby with other solo players, since it's MWO it would be a dropship not a lobby. If VOIP were built in this game would be quite enjoyable to solo drop into dropships. But it's a beta soo... get on Teamspeak you lazy sods!
