No we're not. We are still going to get our 50% Money and XP bonus We aren't losing anything comparatively. It's the lack of consequence for poor performance, that bugs my 30+ years of Gamer sensibility!

This patch is a step in the right direction, but being the internet game forum that it is, there are people that will seriously actually complain about being given free money (in this case, a literal example)

Actually no I won't.. I paid for my 30% hero mech bonus.. If I don't get my 30% bonus, I'll be looking for a refund of real US dollars.
Also no.. the disappointment is this... rather than you getting to learn to play the game in at least some semblance of the original design. You will get the pillow version, all gentle and sweet and unicorns and rainbows. Its your loss really, not ours, you get the watered down, zero challenge iteration.
That's the tragedy..

The consequence is lower payouts than even current trial mechs. 25k base+ extras and you get facerolled or head popped? well the latter you have minimal payments for, but the former? Yeah I just love my atlas being cored with a standard engine in about 10 seconds due to turning a corner and the whole enmy team was waiting for me. 1-2 barages and my atlas was missing it's side torso, it's ct armor and had the ct critical and the other side torso damaged to red. Yep totally my fault for turning a corner huh?

two words: better graphics
Graphics mean something for gameplay?
Guess doom must not be very popular anymore... Oh wait there are still mods made for it and an active community.

If you or half of the others here even thought about what was broken and what was "fixed" you might realize that the new player experience will still be broken. Taking RnR away does nothing to increase the number of players. Seeing how it takes away from the realism of the game and continues to turn it into just another FPS clone, I could see many going elsewhere for their immersion. So in the end you have substantially fewer players because you are loosing both the old and the new.

Players need to be able to accept the price of failure. With no R&R we have one consequence and that's dying in game.
I support the 25 games of premium money making for New players... even if it has no foundation in any reality. The aster New players get into a personal ride the sooner they will be likely to spend money! But paying for R&R has not been a problem at the ridiculous 25% cost. A Lone Wolf should never have that kind of Luxury unless they are a Davion,Steiner. Or Kurita.

You're right, they do. But until we get community warfare, don't you think we can put rnr aside temporarily while they fix the repair system and normalize income?

its called losing a match and being beaten.
The only thing that matters in a game.
edit:
You know like in competetive spots when it's done right?
The only thing the losing team loses is the match.
The players limbs don't just sponteanously explode off their bodies and they NEVER get to play again.

Challenge comes from the opposition, I'd like them to be kitted out in the best the game can provide.
Not in the nerfed up crap they can afford because they can't maintain an 80% win/loss ratio like i can.

But seriously, I am absolutely thrilled by this move. I won't have to sit there and go "should I go run my ecm cicada more just to make money, or do I have enough cbills to burn on some fun times with my artemis atlas, that costs 140k to repair if it gets wrecked. I can just play the mech I want, and as long as I do well, I'll make a profit. if I do poorly, I'll get peanuts.
I won't have to sit there and go "should I just take this to center chest and die cleanly, or use my skill with the game to roll my torso, while watching my armor and money evaporate as a penalty for knowing how to play."
I like that I will see less trial mechs on my team and more of pilots running a mech they care about with the gear they want instead of some un-repaired econo-crap.. or some stock loadout the devs pulled out of a hat this week.
Also I will be handed 80 suitcases of Cbills. I like that. I hope more patches do that.

That this didn't happen sooner.
Having a hero or founders mech is a nice bonus to cbills whenever I got into it... but that bonus was never going to stop me from getting into other mechs.
And the bonus will still be there when you do get into them again after the patch. This is like... literally the dumbest complaint I've seen on these forums, and that's quite saying something.
I mean, it's not even coming from the more legitimate angle of "but player behaviour will be affected if they don't have to pay for repair costs", which is true - people were a bit more cautious with repair costs. But the flipside is, without repair costs, they'll stop going into battle in half repaired mechs. So it's a bit of win and a bit of loss on that front.
In the end, this change isn't going to make the game less stompy and less shooty. And that's all I'm really after.

This game will never be like eve online where we are actually vying for base resources and systems with manufacturing plants, the lack of a persistent world like eve online makes that utterly infeasible.
More importantly we won't be making money from owning these systems as faction warfare will end up being like eve onlines faction warfare.
Thus wanting to have an economy that runs in that way is impractical and unworthy of consideration.
