New folks, I'm sincerely sorry.

For those of you who have had bad experiences, I hope you will stick around and give the game a chance. It really is a great game (and community) for the most part, and I'm sure it will only get better. I truly believe that PGI means well, and are talented developers with only the game and communities best interests at heart. I know for a fact they want their baby to succeed and they want us to stick with them every step of the way.
I will add that after they reimplemented the stat board tonight, I was very surprised at what my stats showed. The fact they were so inflated tells me there are a lot of new people struggling out there and I would like to invite any newer players who have questions or would like to just bounce ideas off my unit, to please feel free to send myself or any other 1RDR (Gowan, Surtr, Zeitler) folks a message and we'll do out best to help. We go out of our way to try to make MWO a fun experience for everyone and hope that you will continue to stick with the game, train and become the dangerous opponets and valued allies we know you to be.

I have two threads started to help new players and many others have done the same. Go nuts on the question!

I want to train new people to be worthy enemies. One-sided games are boring as get-all, close fought games is what I'm looking for.

Cons3quence, not necessarily desperation, just trying to ward off frustration or ill feelings before they take root. Being a new player to a game with an established community can be daunting, especially when it's a team focused multiplayer game. Just having a few simple questions answered, or being shown a little good will can go a long way.
Thanks for weighing in though!

Exactly! However, close match when obviously it was not is more insulting.

Why not? Good sportsmanship is never wasted.
Even the team that gets beat 50-0 in a football game lines up and shakes hands with the other team at the end.

I have been in a losing 8-0 match before, but we fought hard. We may not have killed any of them, but they knew they were in a fight. The winners were being magnanimous, that is not a bad thing.

Unfortunately things like emotions (including sincerity) can't be easily conveyed via text.....especially since there is no post-game chat.
Everyone assumes the worst otherwise.
Anywho, any new pilots out there looking for a group? I have a few hours free to help out.

We should be focused on being ambassadors for the game ... welcoming new players, teaching them not only best tactics but best behaviors, protocols and Mechwarriorship. Unless you have no interest in combating in a community with any form of skilled players, then by all means keep that wall up to repel the new players. Otherwise, we need to bring them in and teach them so that the pool of skilled players grows ... this in turn should enhance all of our experiences ... right?
Or is the ePeen call too powerful to resist

Keeping in mind that there are no official teamspeak servers and I'm not sure which one you were jumping on, but the one I frequented in Beta still doesn't have any of those types of recruitment going on.
No, the worse thing I've seen are people actively trying to ferment hatred of different player groups.
I certainly agree with your last paragraph
