So they basically berate people for not using TS3 and then destroy the only means of communications by using low-tech electronic warfare... *sigh*

Met a Premade that derived pleasure from extreme cruelty (since ****** is apparently not allowed) yesterday.

They started with destroying the AC20 of my HBK, followed by the other shoulder, then shot away my leg armor and were just about to blow my CT armor when I managed to get out of bounds.

I can stomach that (Founder Bonus), but the same happened to the other guys, some of which had already Custom Mechs. I could absolutely understand if somebody never looked back at MWO after grinding for a Mech of their own and then basically loosing it in the first Match.

So you "squak" if the enemy is bad.

What kind of sound do you do if your own team is bad? (bad day, bad performance, etc.)

We laugh poke fun at who ever was the worst performer figure out what we did wrong and fix the problem. If someone takes internet robots really really serious we explain that its just a game. If they still take it serious we make fun of them.

Gingo: that often happens, to be honest... I often lose both arms before losing the center torso.. the legs makes me wonder though - usually they only do that to test the armour or when a mech is too fast to accurately shoot to kill.

Guys, if anyone in the Skjaldborg acts like that, get in touch with one of our officers and we'll have words with anyone who acted like that.

To put our unit in perspective, we had myself and another mech sit out of a match last night when the matchmaker system put our 8-man against only 6 opponents. We've also started to declare that we ARE a Skjaldborg unit at the start of each match, so our opponents know that they face at least a partial premade (actual numbers in any one drop could range from 4 to 8 mechs).

(Public Apologies to one pilot btw - Cyber something - apparently my mech DID "R-up" your mech during that match... it musta been when you buzzed my mech - I didn't notice and went afk shortly after you did so. I was half asleep with boredom by that time).

I've taken to typing in something like "If any new players here, please don't trickle out one by one, it'll get you killed fast in this game <3 ", or whatever in global chat when I'm playing with one or more team members, because I agree, it must be very disheartening to lose so hard, all the time and it's easy to make a mistake in this game and only realise it when the incoming hail of death is unavoidable.. :D

Back when most of us started, and before we were in teams or were familiar with the various TS servers, at least we were earning C-Bills hand over fist in closed beta (in order to buy new gear, so it could be tested out), and the wipes were regular, so a losing streak meant very little, but now, I think it's kinda important to not be dicks if at all possible.

In a way, it's sort of embarrassing to roll pubs too hard, but in fairness last night I saw several (I assume) pub teams coordinating their trial-mech LRM fire and being pretty effective, so it's not all bad. :)

You do realize that Gausscats are not that hard to kill and that many goons do not drive them, right. Also many times we go matches without ever Squawking at all. Generally if there is squawking its either because the entire team was really really bad(most pug groups surprisingly do not fall into this category) or there were a couple of players on it who were really bad.(see 2 flamer commando... that's it 2 flamers). Thank you for your time.
SQUAWK!!!!

I know that Gausscats are not that hard to kill. There was a point in time (ages ago) that several goon premade groups were running multiple Gausscats and focus firing with them. I'm assuming they knew they were vulnerable because their dragons were guarding them against light mechs religiously.

The reason I was reasonably sure they were goons at the time is because I looked them all up after the game. There were only a couple squawks before the game started.

Well, it's not all doom and gloom out there. Tonight we fought a group that I suspected was yoked on comms down to 3 on 1 (the 1 being me) and they offered if I powered down they would leave me be and cap. As I was in a mech I owned, I accepted although I expected their assault to come blast me at any moment.

But they kept their word. I am assuming they were on comms and a team because, with PUGs, usually if someone offers surrender some other pilot is more than happy to break the terms for a kill . These folks had the discipline to follow their presumed leader's orders.

Wish I knew who they were, I'd like to try to set up matches against my outfit with them some day.

I am a Ghost Bear, but I have been dropping with the Sea Wolves for the past couple of days. We had a few matches where we offered the last mech to surrender and we would just cap. Yes, we were on Team Speak. Yes, we kept our word. I'm not sure if your match happened to be one of the ones we offered surrender on or not (I think it was though). It quite possibly could have been another clan (group) that did it. However, I have to give props to the Sea Wolves - they do offer (and honor) surrenders and such from time to time. Having won most of our matches vs other premades and pugs, I think it was a very nice thing to do and is an effort to help keep the community friendly instead of harrasing new players and driving them away.

In fact everything started downhill (for MM) when they decided the class pairing ****. it was a bad solution. a really simple Battle value based on the mech total cost would be better.

Matchmaking by BV is an absolutely terrible idea. A cheap Jenner can wipe the floor with an expensive Atlas.

What? You surrendered? To save a few repair C-bills? And you actually confess doing so on this forum? Is your honor not worth more than that? :) Not being too serious, I mean, do as you please, but this isn't a Mechwarrior attitude. Not for me. I'm willing to put my mech on the line in every single match, for a team of pilots I have never met before, but that's just me.

Doom Riders' have set phrases we say when launching, usually 'GLHF', 'DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!' or other drunk nonsense, very rarely do we heckle though (and if they do, tell me!). a large portion of our recruitment comes from how well we treat the opposing team. so we take professionalism while playing very seriously.

afterwards we get really ******* drunk and swear about eachothers mothers. it's all fun!

but no seriously, people that insult new players like that should be quartered, and then their remains shoved into a horses ******.

I am sorry but i disagree when you say pgi is not at fault. at this point of the development there is still no Skill lvl MM.

Bob, sorry bud, but it is NOT PGI's fault people are complete tools in game. That's genetic.......

I'm all for good heckling, but some of the crap I've seen isn't necessary. Not a nice greeting for a new player to have L2P spammed at them the whole match.

Said they were part of a clan (though they corrected the new players over and over again that they weren't actually a "clan" in the most condescending way possible, totally referring to the Clans meaning Clan wolf, jade falcon, etc) and pretty much stated from the outset that we should bend over in significantly worse terms. They then heckled the crap out of every player on our team until some of our newer players started heckling back, and things got out of hand. First time I've seen it get this bad. Thankfully nobody started cussing, cause that would have just made things stupid. Hilariously enough they weren't actually that good, they were just running the generic 2 Jenner, 1 Hunch and 5 Cat "We'll eat your whole team with LRMs!" nonsense that no PUG could possibly counter.
Ok I don't do this kind of thing myself, but, the term you are looking for is psycological warfare. By distracting your opponents with words or deeds you cause them to lose focus so they can be defeated easier. Your teams' reaction in game and now shows you(collectively) are a prime target for this. The best counter for this kind of attack is to just focus and blast them all into binary bits. :) :D :D

when we have guys who get stuck, we've offered to cap instead. or when we meet AFK mechs that are clearly owned mechs, we'll cap. Doom's policy is that what's agreed on the field is agreed. and cannot be turned down.

we've had hits on players who've wronged us in matches (Team Killing, having the same mental clarity as doorknobs) when this occurs, and we see them on the enemy team, we request that the enemy team shut down and let us murder the savage. typically it has been met with no resistance, and we love that we take that little snot nosed mongrel and break his mech piece by piece. but very rarely are these issued. and they're never issued on pugs unless they were flat out rude, obnoxious, trolling *****. love to put them in their place.

however when players have issues we sympathise, and even accept terms of surrender (by god, we certainly wish the enemies would show us the favor!)

See now I really want to know who this group is. It does not sound like any of our goon groups, we're usually careful enough not to violate CoC, but get others to do so. Due to how premades never see premades I can't say I've run in to these guys before and now I want to know who it is. Can you give us hints without name and shame?

On the OP, I do hate the PUG stomping and dislike the obviously superior premades in general, but in their defence, since it's impossible to tell who are premades and not (at least early in the match), a premade team can't really know if they are facing a PUG or another skilled premade opponent team, so of course they must play as effective as possible (even using massive amounts of LRMs and the worst PUG destroying feature so far, the dreaded TAG).

Real match making will make this better, but I think we also need the TAB player list to show group belongings (and perhaps founder flags), and we need it yesterday!! Seems like a 5 minute fix to me (I work with software development) and would help a lot, both for PUGs and for smaller premades.

We also need the ability to chat after the match is over and the scores show (we needed that several months ago actually). And a lobby. But everyone know this already of course ...

There was a great deal of squawking, and "word of ..." being spouted. I can't recall any names, but if I saw them again it might ring a bell. Sorry, can't be more specific.

Are you talking about the OP's match?

EDIT: Yea, re-read the thread, the OP even states it's not a band of squawkers. We try and keep tabs on imposters and copy-cat acts.

No, about the ones I've been involved in that went the same way. It seems clear that this group has done the same thing several times, I've run into them 3-4 times as well.

true enough but grieving a premade or a bunch of noob is not the same.
New players are to be nurtured, if you pit them against a dumbass premade wtih poor maner for the first match, the damage is done. but if you pit them against other noob everyone is too busy learning the game (and enjoying it innocently) to bother each other.

When i am with my team, if another team is harrassing/bad mouthing, we answer on the battleground and if we get stomped we keep their name :)

You can't prevent ppl to be *****, but when pug insult us when we stomp them i don't feel offended at all. when i am solo getting stomped by a team and getting badmouthing it's different...and i am a veteran of this game...imagine new players !
