As a old table top player I feel that heat in very important to the game. I stopped playing MW4 because, I was consantly getting 1 shotted by some guy mounting like 5 PPCs. Heat is the balance for the game without it in the game I'll lose intrest in it very fast. While I 'll admit there is nothing like a one-shot kill I want to get it because of aiming skills not because I am useing an unrealitic mech configuration. I will also admit that I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to reimaginings of old table-top games into the PC/Xbox/PS3 venue. (I HATED Shadowrun for example, if they did it right it would have been such an awesome game. Anyway thats my rant for the day ,thank you for your votes and commets.

Heat and ammo should ALWAYS be on. That's how MW is supposed to be played.

There should absolutely be heat and Mechs should run out of ammo. What are you managing if they don't? Trying not to spill that coffee in the cup holder? Fuel mileage? Now wouldnt that make it really challenging. Its a sim game and it should play like one.

MWO, being an entirely server-ran game by PGI, will not having many, if any, of the server options that MW4 players might be used to. You will not see NH or UA, most likely.

Regardless of that, I despise NH and UA, because they're against everything that Battletech is meant to be.

Agreed, this game is supposed to be a simulation, not an arcade game. It isn't mech assault, so all of the simulation aspects NEED to be included. If you read the books or play the table top, heat is a much bigger deal than it was made into in the games. That is what will separate this from any other first person shooter.

No.

And I doubt there will be any server options that people can decide on.

I like heat, it means that all the laser-boating noobs shut down quickly and get blown up.

Its also the reason I usually go ballistic on my load-out, but it is needed to balance the game.

Heat is super important to Mechwarrior and if I ever saw a No Heat or No Ammo match I'd avoid it like the plague, same as I did in the previous computer games.

You should self-destruct your 'mech hangar just for even suggesting no-heat or unlimited-ammo matches.

This is one of those things that divides the community and makes the game experience lame. The more you remove the realistic fighting conditions the more you get people who just want frags frags frags like an FPS and will turn off night, turn off fog, turn off weather, and turn off heat and limited ammo just so they can "max" their frags. This is a sim and needs to stay with realistic conditions and let people's skill determine who gets the glory.

I think that turning off the heat would definitely take from the realism of the game.

Voted "No".

Any official meta-game based match should always have heat and ammo limits on.

As for non meta-game matches, there should be servers set aside and filter-able that offer other variants of play, like NHUA (no heat/unlimited ammo).

Get rid of heat and ammo? are you serious?

Lets just get rid of Ammo explosions and critical hits, and we should have unlimited armor too. don't want to deal with heat play front mission, do want to deal with ammo play armored core.

This is battletech, it is where heat for giant mechs started, you can not take a core element of the game away, if you don't like it play something else, heat is not going anywhere, nor is ammo.

Interesting poll considering this is an MW community and I'm happy to see at this time (100% no vote is alive and well) that cannon is not in question.

good job everyone...
