This is not Beta

They use the word beta to justify bugs, unfinished gameplay and features, and rush to release because they need to bring in money to make the investors happy
Someone pushed them to release the game, but it wasn't ready, so they came up with a phoney beta with no wipe, and yes we'll take your money thank you.
Beta is a testing phase.
Beta does not let you buy time with real cash.
Beta wipes everything, because people are testing. You cant test anything without wipes
because people wont buy and test the crazy stuff. Real money is at stake
You really believe this is beta ?
Go, go PT Barnum.
The bad part is, they take money from people and let them get pugstomped into the ground with trial mechs. Gonna lose paying customers like that. Genius

Compare this to most Kinect titles for an example... also buggy half complete products but they were sold at full price as finished products... By using the open beta tag PGI are at least honest.

What paying customers? The game is free to play.
Like Soulgorger said and while we are on the subject. There are no wipes? gee than weres my 20k cbills? How come my founders time reset? What happened to the mechs I purchased with the cbills I won? What happened to all those nice shinneys I purchased with those cbills to put on my mech? THE DEVS WIPED THEM!

It was always stated that there would be a wipe before they went to open beta. But unless something breaks beyond repair there should be no further wipes (unlike some games that make one more wipe before release)

You misheard; it's Free to PLAY, not Free to PAY. Nobody is forcing money from users. You can play the game and opt to pay if/when you feel that it's warranted.
In the event that PGI was forced to release the game, then that's a command decision, and if it was invoked by the publisher, then it's what the developer has to do. There was a large concern over the closed Beta players that the public would have the response you're exhibiting right now, but the bottom line is that it's Open BETA, and nobody is forcing you to pay them a thing.

Better to call it open Beta and admit that things need tweaking and adding than call it "Final Release" as a fib. And they can't stay 'closed beta' forever.

Are there gonna be changes and fixes? I'm sure there will and that is the only thing that matters.

Your inability to read really doesn't have a bearing on anything.
For months they've been telling you as a founder and a closed beta tester that at open beta there was a final reset.
They did this in email, in forums posts, in blogs ... you pretty much had to go out of your way not to know this.
If you didn't care for that, you shouldn't have participated in the closed beta, instead waiting for open beta when your founder's perks would be final.

Exactly. I personally am not actually a fan of this whole "Free to play" business model at all.
However, this is the way the industry has gone because they figured out there was more money in it and they could get games to market faster. This closed beta -> open beta -> "release" paradigm has become common, along with crowd sourcing of funding.
It's basically a "don't hate the playa hate the game" situation. Tinker and Smith couldn't get funding for a MechWarrior 5 retail game (no interest from publishers or VC) ... so this is what we have.

Some up-start games require payment for access to Beta... Beta has nothing to do with anything but the current state of the game.
Your argument is invalid because if, 'they,' take money from someone then obviously that person will not be getting pubstomped with a trial mech since they can afford a mech of their own.
Your crying, please end it.
