Bah. Powering down to save repair costs? Not going to happen. Even if I'm in a PUG and everyone ran off like headless chickens to get killed piecemeal leaving me alone against a full team I'll still try to at least scratch your paintjobs before I'm inevitably blown into tiny, tiny pieces!

If I've got a weapon I'll fire it. If I have no weapons I'll charge! If I can't charge I'll use harsh language!

Based on the replies in this thread, I am glad to see there are still people that will fight and do all they can. I guess some people do not realize the game title is called MechWarrior with emphasis on "WARRIOR".

If there was to be a group say ala "300 Spartan Warriors", then seeing the responses in this thread can get you a feel who those would be.

If I come across a powered down mech on the battlefield I will more than likely shoot to kill because in my mind a "power down ambush" is a fair and respectable tactic to hide your mech from sensors and jump out at an unsuspecting mech when they dash right past you. Powering down voluntarily is also a legitimate way to bleed off heat quickly.

I was chasing an atlas in a pitched battle who turned and ran for the nearest cover, disappearing between some of the plateaus on Caustic. After he disappeared and I lost targeting and visual my first thought is "This is a trap" So I changed directions, rounded the plateau the long way around, and found him powered down behind it facing where I was headed to in chase. Had he another friend waiting there for me it would have been a prime ambush. As it was, it was just the one Atlas, I was behind him and took my shots. After dying he complained that he'd powered down! How dare I!

Well... I missed the rule in this game that said a powered down mech is considered 'surrendered.' To me a fully armored Altas with all weapons on board is a threat that can go active at any moment. If you want desperately to surrender, run out of bounds or at LEAST broadcast to the "ALL" text channel that you are voluntarily surrendering.

Honestly, the game is about big stompy robots shooting each other in the face and that is what I signed up for. Don't run that XL atlas if you are on your last 50,000 Cbills and you can't afford to lose. DO come and battle me. DO support your teammates and pick a battle buddy even if he is stranger and doesn't even know you are being his wingman. Never go it alone. In this situation described above the team he was on still had active mechs and had made kills on us. It wasn't a curbstomp from what I remember at all.

I think this is becoming a growing concern. I have encountered more than a few times people in my team powers down when the battle is not going our way. They power down to save their repair bill and the opposing team rewards this behavior by not killing the last mech because they want the capture bounty.

See the cycle? Abandoning your team behavior is becoming more and more. I play this game for fun and I believe dying as I go down fighting and contributing to my team even if PUG. It sucks this game is turning into a c-bill grind taking priority over gameplay.

An ingame reporting feature like WOW, or Warhammer has would go a long way to putting a stop to that.

I always allow a surrender. I usually move to point blank and target the cockpit so I can (and have) headshot at the first sign of shenanigans.

Otherwise I am totally cool with people who do this.I play this game for the Meta of it as much as anything else. It just feels more universe correct to allow surrendering.

. I totally agree with you on Powering down early in a match.. Totally.. I never roll over, that's something a minion would do... Google Minion if you don't get the actual reference. . On a side note, I ran into a Clan last night that was advertising in a match, they ran their mouths, and knowing that it was going to be a steamroll, (we had started losing teammates fast), I decided to make an end run around them, came up on their flank, and then proceeded to "CRUBSTOMP" one of their Clan members right in front of 6 of their team, there was nothing they, or he could do, and by the time they opened fire on me, it was already too late.. Trial by Overwhelming fire, missiles, you name it... . Centurion CN9-AL (customized but no FF armor) Versus Yen Lo Wang (customized)... CN9-AL won...

The Wang without it's massive barrel is pretty much inferior to the Cent anyway how ;)
Still a good showing.

There are times I got a kill and the game ended with 8 - 1.
But it was a show of defiance.
