I would like to suggest Russ,Brian,& PGI make a Download on this site for
Mechwarrior2&expansions,Mechwarrior3&expansions,Mechwarrior4 Vengeance,Mechwarrior4BlackKnight,and Mechwarrior4Mercinaries.Tell us if you can do this becouse now you own the rights to all Battletech\Mechwarrior IP's.That way all the fans could have a free pc game copy and practice till MW:0 comes out. :)

Perhaps i was not talking about Mektek or there Mod ? We are playing the free mektek mod on gameranger but i dont see you there? Plus Fans would like some Downloadable Clean copys without the Mektek Mod in it im sure fans and players would even pay a few bucks to have the Clean retail versions. :)

So you basically mean they will make a section of their site and put a downloable version of each Mechwarrior game? Cool idea, but MW1 and 2 are already abandonware and I think they would have to ask M$ specifically for releasing MW 3 free. :)

There is a difference between owning an IP and the rights to a game.
Same thing why artists don't always own the rights to their own songs.

Also, MechCommander 1 and 2 are open source.

I've started Replaying MW4 again recently but always played offline , is this still "alive" offline . if anyone knows good servers etc would be great however I would personally prefer non competitive rather then Tourneys (I am gonna be naff to start with having learnt anti AI tactics)

KC, as much as I love this idea... I would much rather them focus on MWO so it comes out sooner, and at its finest possible quality :)

I'm with you. I would much rather the developers stay devoted to the game. I would LOVE to play something other than the MW4 titles (I looked up MW3 online - the cheapest I could find was near $100), but I would prefer that associated work remain dedicated to MWO.

The sooner, the better; but the smoother/clearer, the awesomer.

What could happen is, PGI buys the rights for those games, fixes them so they work on newer systems, and then sells them at low prices, before GOG does.

I don't know how expensive bandwidth is on Canada, but they probably can't afford to give away copies of MechWarrior 3 and 4 for free, in addition to those of MechWarrior Online.
The older games are another matter, though.

I'm assuming you were only looking at new copies? Because I found used copies for as little as $10.

It would be great if MekTek obtained permission from Microsoft to patch up and release all of the Mech games and their expansions like they did with MW4: Mercs, but something tells me that's not gonna happen.

The main hope I have is that Microsoft or whoever holds the rights to all of the games rerelease all the games in one big collection to cash in on MechWarrior Online.

Sadly, I still have all the original disks; to include the 2.5 and 5 inch floppies that Crescent Hawks I and R was released on..

I kept them all,

If you lived in Hell I would "share"

but sadly, it is hard to get within the 7th circle

we're a select group

Sweet MC2 was one of my favorite games.. but not having the Multiplayer is a killer.. much rather play against others.

Any idea if they are going to release a "Play at own risk or on a LAN" MP support..

It's not planned for now, especially as the team is working on rebalancing the game towards canon values.
If the teams gets a few extra coders everything would be faster of course, with a lot of luck and time it could become a nice RTS counterpart to MWO...
