suppose the dude is trying to fix a bug in his game.
i am searching through this forum to try to find the solution to my game crashes.
i apply the .pak files and try to get the game rolling. they still don't work. i'm trying to find the error by replacing the files the support team offers and testing to see if it works. when it does i'll inform the developers so they can improve the game.
Yet, here i am - many hours searching, swapping files to fix it and logging in to test it... and therefore becoming AFK because the game don't work.
its beta and we are trying to make this work

Have to be honest. I was all rage yesterday about afkers. Then later in the day something weird happened where i blacked screened on entering a game so i quit out. Went back to launcher and it said my mech was 'in game'. It remained like that for 5 mins or so, then became ready for use. My c bills also increased i think.
As such i cannot help but wonder if the people i thought were afks just had that happen to them.

I have a friend who often crashes as soon as the map loads. The game doesn't label him as disconnected so he appears to be AFK.

In a case like that Tipps... he could be reported... then again, since it's a case of crashing, I'm sure he's got nothing to worry about...

When he crashes it is because of that memory allocation error. He has filed support tickets and has received replies saying the issue is being looked at. So for now I guess we wait and just deal with the crashing. I just mentioned it because not everyone who appears to be AFK is entirely at fault.

Well here is my crazy story when i set my options to 1600x900 on medium i can play my owned or trial mechs fine but when i change it to 1600x900 on high or ultra high i can play the trial mechs but my owned mechs crash me back to desktop with a memory allocation error which leaves me AFK in games. So to the OP i think 80% of AFk players are ones having game related problems. Also this must indicate the owned and founders mechs are constructed different as far as hit boxes and polycounts.

It'd be interesting to see if you get the same problem when using an owned mech that is the same model as one of the trial mechs? I wouldn't be surprised if a complete uninstall (removing ALL files related to MWO) and reinstall didn't solve your issue.

When you see the same one over and over again do it. Dont team team kill him even though he deserves EXACTLY that after doing it to you 3 matches in a row. You see RAM, the most imbalanced and irrational of new moderators will take the opportunity to ignore what the AFKer is doing to matches to make sure and warn you if you are KaoS or any team other than his.
I hope PGI takes a good look at the guys who show them one face while doing some underhanded stuff when they think they have a little innernets muscles. sad little man.
