what he said
also a lot of people are trying to farm up some cbills, and base rushing is a quick way to do it. takes very little time, you don't use up much ammo, and don't take a lot of damage for repair bills
it'll get better once people start fattening their wallets

This is a tactical game with many viable methods to win. Sure some are cheesier then others but this is common in any competitive game. The solution is to plan around this and ensure you can counter it if it does occur.
e.g.
Any mech that can run fast enough and can disenage should go back to protect the base.
This reminds me of the cries in Starcraft 2 with the many cheesy builds to win. Sure they are cheesy but play well and you can counter them.

This was brought up many times in closed beta but nothing was done about it. As you've seen you've already got the lemmings flooding the thread flaming you about it. Same thing happend in CB whenever it was brought up or someone tried to have a real discussion about it.
The fact is that the base capture mechanic is far far to simplistic. There should be more to capturing an enemy base then standing in an empty square for a minute. Many suggestions were made by me and others. Some being adding secondary objectives, such as buildings that must be destroyed before you are able to capture, or replacing the base square itself with an armored and lightly armed command building that you must destroy, or changing the mode to one team assaulting and the other defending (traditional assault mode), or moving to a single square that must be held on the map. Would give meaning to the mode being called "Assault".
The current game mode is and has been from the start, exceedingly boring. Defense is also only an option if you totally commit to it, things being equal a single mech or even two mechs are not going to stop three or more, the game simply favors numbers far to great among evenly skilled combatants for a partial team to reliably defend. Further, "Fast Capping" is so boring that you might as well not be playing the game, I have always hated it even when it results in me winning.

Having a competent light on your team pretty much eliminates the problem of base capping. Unless the whole enemy team is in there I can easily hold a base until backup gets there. Most of the time I'm already chasing the would be capper before he gets there.

You sure do, and i have tried my best in my trial mech to defend, fact is getting rolled by 5+ vs 1 is just about as fun as running across the map avoiding conflict.
I get this is only one game mode but sadly its the only one in the game atm. It's ok tho it's all my fault i guess for wanting to have some team based PvP now rather then let's all get a big stack of C bills and buy all the best stuff THEN we can PvP.

You lose your base for whatever reason, mission failed. The enemy let's you waltz onto their base for 90 seconds without so much as a light to defend it? They failed and you deserve the win.
Not much more to say. PGI should spruce up the graphics. Maybe put a few tents, a deployed mobile HQ or a MASH vehicle, but the game mode is sound.
Just pretend the base capture timer is the amount of time it takes your mech(s) to find the other side's general amongst all the puny pedestrians and squash him flat.

This is really simple. If your team ignores the rules of engagement they you chose to lose.

yes. because you're constantly getting rolled, frustrated enough to make 2 posts expressing said frustration, but not motivated enough to take the overwhelming majority of advice to new players which is - get on voice comms and play this team-based game as a team.
Ok, I get that it's less than desireable to have to use something 3rd party to play, I get there are people averse to human interaction, I get that everything isn't polished and convenient for you at the moment... But all of you whining about simular topics need to get that this is an unfinished product. It's not finished. It's feature incomplete. It's not released. It's under construction. There are intended features missing. It's being worked on. It'll be a while before this is ready for release. It's in beta. It's generally not finished.
Hopefully that sinks in. Should you consider continuing to participate and learn how to play this game as it develops, matures, gets balanced, has features and content added and becomes generally more complete, you should give *serious* consideration to joining pickup groups on one of the public TS servers.
Not to PUGstomp, not to farm credits, not to grief......but to learn HOW to be an effective team player. HOW to fit and build a mech into a focused (or broad) role and HOW to effectively pilot in that role.
You'll end up with a few millions worth of CBills, a couple of fully fitted mechs, more than a few new friends that you can group with (even as a "casual") and you'll start to see what this game is going to be about. If you really like this style of game, you're doing yorself a disservice by missing out on the larger part of the game IMHO.
Now, if you're complaining that there's really not alot of indication in-game for new players that might not have bothered coming to the forums and hit the drop button without making any further effort - I completely agree. C3 *should* have been far more integrated to at least form adhoc channels for the random group as dropped. The current social UI is extremely unintuitive to use, and it inhibits cohesive teamplay for new users.
For people that've gone far enough to log into, read and post in these forums; you don't have that excuse. You're just lazy.
