Tonns of posts about the issue and main guidelines of how will it be are here so I'll be as brief as possible.

When PRE 8v8 MM system goes live please add an upper tonnage limit to the creation of such team. For example 500 tonns. So basically you can make a team of 5 guys on 5 atlases and it works. Or you can make a team of 7 catapults and 1 cicada and it still works and this team can be put against the 5 atlas team.

The exact limit number is up to you though I personally feel that something from 400 to 500 is good.

Why? Cause it will be assault\heavy-fest otherwise. Why do you need to pick meds when you can take heavies? Limit forces people to be move creative and aim for balanced setups while still having some room for original teams like 8 jenners for example :rolleyes: .

Ofc in future PGI can make more complex system similar to WoT where people can play in "assault leage" or "lights+meds league" or whatever. But for starters give us at least basic tonnage limit please.

Totally agree on tonnage limits. it has battletech spirit in it, and great for gameplay.

this is not bad idea. this system more variation for competitive games,but yes its not ideal.
yes bad players will play on 8 atlas but good team will have balanced team
my point of view what we MUST have both systems of balance :free teams and tonns\bv ballanced

Looks like as old maximum drop tonnage in global war and this is a good idea.

Phase 2 REALLY needs to incorporate a max tonnage if its not matching mech sizes.

I'm all for the idea, which was expressed by OP. We need such a restriction to make all classes viable and make the game more complex and interesting for all classes, roles and finally - for the pilots.

This is a really good idea, balancing by tonnage (not by class) will add a lot of depth into group setup and loadout.

No, went over this before several times. Matchmaking is currently working off tonnage v/s tonnage. Limiting it to begin with is a bad idea. Holding a drop group from launching because they are 10 or 20 tons overweight is forcing someone to abandon a 'mech they want to pilot. Instead, keep tweaking on the current system.

What about people who want to have 8 assault versus 8 assault matches? Its rather artificial to limit that when you can just make the matchmaking handle it better.
