Hero Mechs thus far seemed to based on "Custom" Variants where some Battle Tech Hero customized a standard Variant to meet his needs.
The word customized is important here. Yes when you buy a "Hero" mech it was customized by its owner. Well one bonus to owning a Hero Mech is it comes with on Omni Hard Point so the "Owner" (players) can "Customize" it a bit more than normal mechs just like the "Hero" Mechwarrior who drove it did.
Take Yen Lo Wang as example. Instead of that Arm only holding Balistic weapon, how bout make it an Omni Hard Point allowing players to put what ever they want in there. We will have this when the Clans come anyway.
This will generate much money for PGI if they do this. This will also match the spirit of being a "Hero' Mech in that when you see one on the battlefield you have no Idea what is in that Arm adding a bit of suspence to the comming parlay.
To quiet...no not quiet, rather slightly appease the pay to win QQing you could also limit this Omni HardPoint to 3 or 4 max of any weapons.
If you really want to generate money make it so to change out the weapon loadout of the Omni Hardpoint that you have to pay similar to Endo, FF, DHS.
For instance if I bought YLW it has the standard 2 Ballistics in the Arm but since it is Omni Hard Point I could modify it for some MC to accept 2 Balistics and 2 Energy or what ever combination up to 4 max weapons ( a simi permanent mod). If later I rather stack 4 missles in that Arm I could again modify it for some MC to hold 4 Missles launchers.
I'll let the devs determine what the max weapon stack should be but you get the idea.
One last thing. Doing this now will give the IS a headstart on keeping up with Clan Tech so when they come the IS can field some Hero mechs to counter the threat. While Clans would still be far supperior this would be a start to sliding the IS toward more balnce with Clan Tech.
