We've all seen them. They tend to:
1. Rock out the biggest trial mech they can get (Awesome)
2. Charg in solo like John Rambo.
3. Get softened up by the opposing teams LRM focus fire.
4. Firing their own LRMs at point blank range doint no damage.
5. Get mopped up by the opposing team.
End result: Because they are not familiar with the mechanics, the importance of strategy, or how the game works they quick get their ***** kicked--resulting in frustration and they won't stick around.
We were all new once, and as players, we can do a few simple things to improve the community and help insure the growth of our playerbase.
1. Make sure everyone knows about the teamspeak servers! The quality of your experience between pugging solo and joining an 8 man group of peopple you just met is night and day. Even if you lose with your 8 man PUG, you'll still enjoy the socialable atmoshpere and learn common strategies. Not everyone checks the forums, so they don't know about it Team Speak server.
Make an announcment at start of each match" (Copy, Paste, Win!)
"All: Attention new players! Please check the official forums for Team Speak information! 8 man pugs win more games than solo players, and have more fun!"
2. If you see someone not understanding mechanics in the game, (Firing LRMs and PPCs at point blank, etc), they're probably a new player. So take the time after you die, or near the end of match to politely tell them about game mechanics. They may be your enemy this match, but they could be in your squad the next one and you'll want them to know their guns work!
"All: Hey guy in that Trial Awesome, fyi your LRMs do no damage inside 180 meters!"
If you want better matches, you need to help your fellow players get more involved.
EDIT Teamspeak Server info can be found here: http://mwomercs.com/...e-chat-servers/ I don't want to list specific ones here because I don't want to show any favoritism. Yes, I use the Comstar US TS server, but there are serveral groups that have posted their TS information up in that thread.
