If it was not for the so called noobs(stupidest name ever coined) then this game would not even be worth making,I have been a diehard Battletech fan for over 20 years and personally I am happy to see so many new faces (currently in closed beta and the ones impatiently waiting for open beta) it is what this universe needs, new fans and returning fans. Without it this game would be NOTHING. And that would be sad...I personally have seen returning players of the franchise have trouble getting used to the new controls (eventually figuring them out) and with a thousand more new beta applicants being allowed access guess what...more noobs, and what do you think will happen when open beta hits....you guessed it thousands of noobs, more noobs than you could count, but thats what we need, it is what we have always needed. So my point is, instead of making these new guys and girls uncomfortable and intimidated, give them some helpful advice and help make this something we can all enjoy,as well as"learn"to enjoy.
Thanks to all who to the time to read (damn I sound old)

We are currently in open beta. However, with only two posts I can see you don't come here often. There are a lot of resources on these forums and it doesn't take much to find them. There are far more useful posts than useless ones to be honest. People focus on the negative because we're human. It's what we do. Sad as it is...

Anyways. A quick look around would tell that there are guides all over the place. There is even a training video attached to the launcher that shows at least the very basics of movement. It's not an ideal way to show movement and targeting, but it's something.

I invite the chance for a new player to get educated. If they come on TS and legitimately want to learn the game I am more than happy to teach them what I know. The problem is I am not as inclined to teach someone if I need to try and type it out in game while im fighting mechs.

If anyone is a newer player and you see me on TS feel free to hit me up with questions or join my group and ask away. I am usually playing on the EU server until the NA server gets some numbers.

BTW dont forget to mention that if it wasnt for us "founders" there may have not be an MWO at all.
Give credit where credits due. ;p

I suppose trying to make the distinction between "newb" and "noob" is ultimately futile...

So I'l just leave this here.

Spoiler

But yes, this game has serious issues with retaining new players.

Ah..so I need to post more, that makes perfect sense. Why does it matter how much I post? The point I was making is that instead of chasing people away, point them to the forums...I am sure when any of you who downloaded this the first thing you did was immediately hit the forums, doubt it, you probably did just like every curious person who has been following the build of a masterpiece jumped right in to see what you have been so anxiously waiting for....and were killed on the map like so many in the weeks before you. Nothing here to be pissy about just trying to get a point across

I was merely stating that you obviously don't spend much time on the forums to realize we already hit open beta, but nice of you to take my words out of context. And yes, I hit the forums. I always hit the forums while downloading a game and right after. However, I know I'm actually a minority there.

Also, most of us aren't being tools. We're trying to help and point people to the forums. I'm not the one being negative in this thread.

I like the cartoon above. To add to the discussion, the OP is right, this game needs lots and lots of "newbs" for it to succeed. Without them the game dies, simple as that.

As for the "noobs" I often find that the person using the word "noob" against another is the person I'd least like to know.

As a Star commander it is your duty to educate the cubs. Post more often.
