Our first Hero Mech is now LIVE: Check out the Yen-Lo-Wang!

The Yen-Lo-Wang Hero Mech is a customized Centurion, used to win the Solaris Championships not once, but twice. Featuring a weapons load out of an AC/20 and two medium lasers, and almost as much armour as the Mech can hold, the Yen-Lo-Wang is a terror on the battlefield. In addition to the having to face the massive punch of that weapons load out and a quite healthy amount of armour, opponents also get to stare at a rather striking custom skin; a white and red painted chassis with red sunburst.

  • New Centurion Variant (CN9-YLW)
  • 30% permanent C-Bill gain boost
  • 3750 MC
  • Comes with a unique skin and colours
  • AC/20 in the right arm, and twin medium lasers in the centre torso  o Two energy weapon slots in the centre torso, one AMS slot in the right torso, two ballistic slots in the right arm, and three module slots.

So if you would like to pilot the most iconic Centurion ever - get into the Mechlab, and go check out the Yen-Lo-Wang!

Cheers, The MechWarrior Online Team

I'll probably pick one up if we can use different camo's on it once those are possible.

I don't have a problem with the camo design, I just feel it's a bit too targetable. I don't want to be seen on the battlefield.

You could have painted the bullseye on the OTHER shoulder, the current version tells everyone where to shoot :-/

It was painted for Solaris, wasn't it? So it was meant to be flashy.

That said, I can't often tell if it's a YLW or normal Cent in battle until they're close enough not to miss either way, so the paint job can't be that bad.

I would like it if you could add 2 missle or 2 laser slots. Have most times 120ms ping and hunting lights is a pain.

Replaced my ac20 with a gausscannon. Can do a lot damage versus heavies and meds.
But it is a pain to hunt lights when they run in cricles around you.

The 2 center-torso laser do not help much, and the ac20 or gausgun misses most times because it is not accurate and needs some time after the mouseclick to fire. ~ 0.5 secs till firing are a lot of time.

Hope it will get better when you improve your netcode, but at moment I have more fun playing a ( have all 4 models ) commando than a mech I paid MC for. That seems wrong to me. So please add 2 (missile/laser) weapon points to the Yen Lo Wang, maybe in the other arm.

Best wishes
Redbull102

PS : Are there plans to add his counterpart. That was a great well looking mech too.

The Wang is a hero mech, the hard points are from lore and probably will not change.
Also after today you will have another Centurion added to make a total of 3 non-hero Cents.

If you want ot talk about lore...

In the book stand that Justin Xiang removed his LRM Launcher from his Centurion called Yen-Lo-Wang to upgrade the AC10 to a AC20.

The books are the warrior series from Michael A. Stackpole.
My book was printed 1995, story was printed first around 1988.

My book is in german, title :

Battletech
Michael A. Stackpole
En Garde

erster Roman der Warrior-Trilogie

Page 228-229 there it stands

So there should be at least 1 missle slot.

Best wishes

Which means it is not on the Hero Mech. It is that simple. Keep in mind we are in 3049, so you are getting what Justin was using just before he passed it on to Kai in 3050.

If you want the missile slot buy a different Cent

Think we have different points of view.
Hero mech
for you:
what was used in the arena fight,
for me:
the hero mech was the Centurion Justin got.

Justin had a Cent with ac10 and lrm, rebuilt it into ( for the arena ) Cent with ac20 without lrm.
By the way, Justins Arena fights were around 3027.

kai happened later ^^

Best wishes

And again That is the mech we have, His arena mech. Kai got it in 3050 as in my last post.
Again, If you want a missile rack buy a different cent. Its that easy.

While I won't say the YLW is useless....It does cost to much IMO.

3750?!?!? More then a freaking Atlas RS!?!?!?...and they jacked up the MC prices on other atlases to over 4k MC.

I'll wait for this thing to go on sale, or there is some other way to get it.... Not shelling out that much for a 50 ton mech with that little firepower, that costs more then an atlas just for a cool skin/c-bill boost....Now i might pay that for a Goliath (or 2x That, if that is what it takes to get quads in this game) :)

This is kinda proof that you don't need a fancy loadout to kill stuff. A simple AC20 with 2 medium lasers will work just as well.
The cosmic joke though, is that I've spent 4.2 mil on upgrading mine - endo steel internals, 338 FF armour, 250 standard engine, double heat sinks, and case for the ammo.

Found a new, foolproof way of killing CPLT-C1 cats - just stand in front of them, trading shots - their 4 MLs can not race an AC20 point blank - not with 15 heat sinks without forcing a shutdown.
