So how fast exactly DOES a cicada with a standard 100 engine run

I would like to slot one of those, and 4x ac 2 with 4 or 5 tons of ammo, and basically be an immobile anti aircraft platfor for lulz. But I think I would have to be able to move at least 20kph to position.

Any idea on what a standard 100 engine would move me at?

also chain fire for amusement, and extra heat sinks if its possible (im guessing it isnt)

but mabye I dont need that much ammo, since I would be dead long before going thru that much. Though sometimes its amusing how long a standing still mech goes unnoticed.

40.5 kph.

But you can't fit more than 3 tons of ammo without stripping armour.

Get the MWO MechLab and play around and see for yourself :D

if you feel like it you could use a 120xl engine instead of a 100 standard engine. i have played with this build before and its fun. :D

Actually, I don't think you can fit more than one ton of ammo without having to start stripping armour...

XL 100 lets you slot more ammo.

This is going to be an absolutely terrible mech, I hope you realize this. You are slow, lightly armored, limited ammo...

and almost no heat mitigation. Even double heatsinks aren't going to save you from three one-heat guns firing twice per second. Your mech generates 6 heat per second, it is not going to dump anywhere near that.

What if you come from sniper island?

being serious now, when i drove this mech i would crawl to a big hill on the edge of the map and do some extreme range sniping. the heat isnt as bad as you would think as long as you pay attention to it. if the enemy finds you then you are dead, end of story.

Someone please try this and record it for me. It only gets 8 seconds of continuous fire right?

Three guns at 150 ammo is 25 seconds of full salvo firing. Longer if you chain fire them.

was thinking endo steel would give me another 2 tons for 3 tons of ammo. Dont know how much i wanna spend on pretty much a fun joke mech. Wonder how many shots before overheat with single HS.

The "aircraft" thing is because AC/2's and AC/5's are considered "anti-aircraft" weapons. They are the equivalent of huge Bofor cannons or like the Autocannons on a Russian Tunguska tank. The Jagermech and Rifleman, for example, were built as Anti-Aircraft platforms in the lore (that use AC/2 and AC/5). And like all AA weapons in reality, they can be used against ground targets.

However, the way AC/2's and AC/5's are represented in MWO they would be the worst Anti-Aircraft weapons to ever exist. They are supposed to be very rapid-fire guns that can used at stand-off ranges against enemy ground assets (Mechs, Tanks, etc.), while the AC/10 and AC/20 were developed using the Autocannon concept and making them into Mech Destroyers.

you are better off putting in the XL320 and going with 6 small pulse lasers with full armor and being a light hunter/enemy mech terror.

It's probably safer to keep the speed and do two AC5's or something.

LOL before the wipe I had one of these. I think I had endo steel but I definitely had DHS. Heat rating was 1.11 with DHS, 4 tonnes ammo in legs (300 rounds), total 96 points of armour. I nicknamed it the Rocking horse after seeing how effective it was keeping people from firing. Top speed was 40.5.
