Should there be brand new mech designs in MWO that have never been in any previous Battletech book or game?

  1. Yes. I want to see brand new designs for MWO alongside the mechs that have been in Battletech for years. (11 votes [11.22%])

  2. Yes, but I would rather they give priority to the "established" mechs that have been in the Battletech canon. (36 votes [36.73%])

  3. No. I only want to see canon mechs that originated in a Battletech book. (51 votes [52.04%])

They can leave the MG shart, or they can leave out the Piranha. Making the MG worth using in small numbers makes it pretty beastly in large numbers.

An MG that fires one bullet (or a ball with a tail like a ppc) and causes 2 damage, or 1 damage with a shorter cooldown; is completely worth using. Even with three of them you are not very overpowered.

Multiply that 1 or 2 damage up to 12 or 24. The mech would basically be covered in short range AC2's with a similar rate of fire.

Producing no heat, moving at light mech speeds, and sanding people to death. No, not a major danger factor...unless it is behind you or helping someone fk your armor.

Given how absolutely shart machine guns are, the Piranha would be a complete waste of model design and balancing. A 20 ton mech can't make use of anywhere near that many hardpoints unless it uses machine guns.

Imagine my friend, a battle between two lances composed entirely of these mechs... oh what a long, draw out battle of Dakkas that would be!! - granted capping is out of the question -

"Tis literally a scratch sir, tis literally a scratch."

There's a small library's worth to get through first, though some hideous abominations can and should be left by the wayside in the progress.

That said, they managed to make the Dragon look awesome, so idunno. Try the whole library.

Small? HMPro search results, all L1, L2, and L3 both Clan and IS found 1117 mechs and their respective variants, and this doesn't include anything after 3068. Even set to 3055 there are still 629, take off about 5 unseens that havn't been redesigned and maybe an average of 5 variants per 'mech so we'll say 630/5 = 126 canon 'mechs, make it about 115 for permanent unseen 'mechs, mostly LAMs that would be too broken to use anyway

for the record I would love to see every one of them from the ungodly good Nightstar to the lowly (and pretty much useless) Urbanmech, I'd even love to see the Ostwhatever lines if only so I can blow those ugly buggers up ***-guns and all

When it comes down to it... it will be a funny thing when they implement this mech...

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Piranha

It's only proper to include a mech that's part of their namesake  ... Also, since it's main armament seems to be 12 MGs, it would be more of a joke mech to own rather than use in combat... and a cool addition to any collector...

for some reason and I'm not sure why... I own a Piranha mini

also have a Stinger LAM and an original Battlemaster BD

Voted yes because I would like to see something new like the 'Hero' mech along with a new design. Also should be a special like the Hero mech and optional to players from the cash shop or cbill grind. I suspect it will be a long time (maybe never) before I see my favorite, the Maurauder, so something new every once in a while.

I don't see why we can't have things that are not cannon here. This is a game of course. They have already taken liberties where need be. This is not table top by any stretch of the imagination.

There are only two games I have played Online that were able to stay close to canon and that is Star Trek and World of Tanks. StarTrek keeps close to it's timeline and content. World of tanks tries to keep the tanks looking as realistic as possible.

But when it comes right down to it, you cannot sacrifice balance and fun gameplay for canon. It is a game to make money first. Lets be honest here, fanboys are the minority, that is the way it is. If you would wish to destroy this game by keeping it from becoming what it could be for the sake of your canon, by all means do so, but do so without a large community.

By the way two thousand people does not a good community make. LOL

I would say whatever is best for the greater good is great regardless if it is canon or not. I want to see improvement, if that means they have to make something up out of thin air then so be it.

I voted "No/stick with canon" but I'm willing to entertain a compromise: If the game lasts long enough for its 1:1 timeframe correspondence to run it beyond existing canon, then once they've run out of canon timeline start adding new ones.

Until then we've got more than enough and then some, thank you very much.

STPG-9-A1 Stompy Goodness Version A-1 Complete with Hydrofoil and Boomerang Gauss Tourniquet, you can throw it or bind wound with it - new skill requirement.

On a serious note, while it would be fun to have original mechs. Each time I see a new one announced from the early days of Battletech, the little kid in me grins from nostalgia. I'll be in loving it when the Summoner/Thor finally makes it to the game, /drool

I want my Dire Wolf 100 tons of nasty that eats Atlas for breakfast.

That's kinda funny. Tabletop is about to hit the 3250's, or literally two centuries ahead of MWO's "now".

There are already so many canon mechs to choose from, why bother putting forth the effort to make a new one?

Which of any TT rules are we currently following strictly? Mech tonnage/weapon tonnage is the only ones I can see.

I dont want new designs in the game, we literally have many many years worth of mechs to be made. If they introduced 2 mechs a month we have many years before even thinking of creating a mech from scratch.

When I said "small library" I meant one of them buildings with the books in 'em. :(

I'm sorry but the way I see it there are a very few people who have caused this whole "unseen" and "reseen" business over greed pure and simple.

Start fresh and keep new mech's mixed up enough in hardpoints size, shape, and look than they would never have a prayer of winning if it went to court.

The games that spawned those mechs are dead and gone. The money train ends here.
